The sheriff is the tax collector in Louisiana.
The assessor says what you owe. The sheriff goes with his gun to get it from you.

In graduate school I got my stipend for TA and my research.
On top of that I worked at a poboy shop on weekends and tutored for an agency. I cleared maybe $50k busting my arse.
Every year I'd owe extra taxes.
Due to multiple jobs withholding wasn't enough. I'd owe like a grand or so.
I paid that shite.
No excuse for ppl not paying their taxes. Total bullshite.

What makes this worse is that she is a salaried employee and he has a one man defense law practice whose finances should not be that complex. In some of the the years he was a salaried public defender. They own one home in Broadmoor and no rental property or other businesses. There are citizens whose water bills have become more complex than her taxes.

Yes they can either foreclose on the house to recoup what you owe or if you try and sell they will get the funds from the sale.

No clue bc that’s a lot of taxes.
My guess is, her husband is self employed and didn’t pay his firm income taxes which if he’s an S Corp is tied to his personal income.

Democrats love to raise taxes for other people but they are above the law so why should she pay? She is "woke" and her educated constituents will vote her back in because of her skin color anyway...

Wrong. The assessor determines the market value of your property,and that is all he does. the New Orleans city council sets the tax millage rate and that determines how much you pay.
