New Orleans also uses a "left handed" thread water valve as their standard.

but AWWA allows for leakage in the testing of a water main:

quote:

Specialized AWWA Leak StandardsValves and Gates (e.g., AWWA C561): Specifies maximum allowable seat/seal leakage limits for infrastructure like slide gates, typically restricted to a threshold of 0.10 gallons per minute per foot (gpm/ft) of the wetted sealing perimeter under design head pressure.

Guess what all that escaping water does under the streets and houses.

Water escaping from a pressurized system creates voids. It’s “rehydrating” in the same way police water cannons hydrate protesters.

yet 70% is wasted to leaking pipes in the ground.

Oh so what? There's a cool new coffee shop that opened up right next to the new boutique donut shop that will close in 6 months. And get this, the baristas only speak French! Water leak, shmarter leak, get your priorities straight people.
