Some of you people are just ignorant as the Racist thugs that attacked and robbed this couple.

Crime happens all over, every city has it. Racism is not just one color. NOLA is no different that ham Baton Rouge, Shreveport and larger cities.

There is a problem today in the black community that attacking white people is okay. In recent times when was the last time you saw white people attacking blacks? Society is messed up and there is not more civility in this country as we have become a me society, a PC pussyfied It’s okay society.

Doesn't this kill the arguement of "its just a few bad apples"? If you can find a crowd walking down the street that isn't not just going to refuse to help in any way, but cheer this on; its much more common than we admit.

People need to quit spending their hard earned money there. I will not spend a dime in that shithole.

Couldn't have happened in such a fine historic part of the city.

Things like that don't really happen in NOLA, those stories are just made up by BR residents because they're jealous of NOLA.

At least that's what I've been told here many times.

How are people ever going to fix a problem they aren’t even allowed to talk about openly without being labeled racist and hateful?

We have a friend getting married in a couple of weeks in NOLA and we staying at AC hotel which is a block from the corner of that attack. It's the same hotel where most of the wedding party is staying. They're a mixed race couple and my friend is black. Im going to stay close to him the Friday night before the wedding or take uber wherever we go. Certainly not going to walk back to our hotel late at night.

It would be a national news story if a black couple was beaten and robbed by a big group of white kids while bystanders laughed.

White people in New Orleans. They deserved it. Should have gone out in Mandeville.

Does every surveillance camera in New Orleans come specially equipped with an extra blurry lens?
That's just the mildew that grows on everything down there.

I live in New Orleans, and although I've been fortunate enough to never have been robbed or been a victim of any crime down here and enjoy things about New Orleans (minus just about all city government officials), I can believe it. There are numerous areas in New Orleans where you feel like something could happen and it would not be of the good variety.

I just went and looked at the still video footage and being that we are in the year 2020, that is the biggest piece of shite camera I've ever seen in my life. It's about as clear as how I see things after drinking 8 Hurricanes. What is the point of having such a piece of shite camera where you can't make out anything?

We’ve stayed at the that Renaissance hotel ther id a block off Canal on Carondelet. It’s been about 5 years now but we stayed there several times in 2015. No problems for us personally but we did hear gunshots one night while walking from that corner to the hotel.

It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Nola but Canal Street has turned into garbage. Litter everywhere, homeless everywhere, hood rat trash EVERYWHERE, it was very umfortabke when we walked from the hotel to Jackson Square and this was around 9 at night. We took a pedal cab back because it was later and we were tired, but safety played a part too.

I don’t ever remember feeling uneasy on Canal Street before that night. It’s definitely taken a hard downward turn.

My wife and I stayed at Harrahs pretty late one night and I won several k at the roulette table. We walked out at like 3am and I saw some of the crowds on Canal and hailed a cab to take us like 2.5 blocks to our hotel
