Seriously, I don't know why people keep trying pro football in the spring. XFL, there have been two other leagues that have tried within the past 5 years. The XFL tried again.. It doesn't work.

Looks like all the old teams are basically using the same color schemes and logos as their original ones

Those leagues failed because of inferior product, not due to the time of year. XFL games, were for the most part, unwatchable. Are you saying they should directly compete with the NFL, vs the time of year people have no football to watch?

Two things need to happen for spring football to work:
1. Tie teams to the NFL. Similar color schemes, but different names. Nearby locations, seeded with players from the practice squad.
2. Regional affiliation with nearby colleges. For "the Saints", play in Hammond or Biloxi or whatever and any unaffiliated player from LSU, State, Ole Miss, Tulane, etc goes to that team.
The difficulty is that the NFL would need to put money into this league to make it work. Why do that, when the NCAA is their current minor league - and it's free?

I would agree. There hasn't been enough talent out there to support another league. There was when the original USFL was going on. Also it came at the perfect time. Football was still exploding that the Pro and college level and it TV coverage was a fraction of what it today.

Looking forward to this, as I was a big USFL fan as a kid. Hopefully they won’t frick it up this time.
