Ive taken my one year old through those parts of the city multiple times in the past few months without any feelings of unease.

Some of you seem to think the whole city is a warzone or something. Im not going to kick it in the 7th ward or Central City anytime soon but its not like im dodging bullets when I take a drive down St. Charles.

There haven’t been any murders at the two Airports so those are safe.

Well one is in Kenner not New Orleans.

I live in the city and being at the zoo is safe. It’s the parking that you leave it up to chance your car won’t be hit for a break in. There aren’t daily break ins that I know of but there have been big hits in that parking lot in the past and people murdered rt around there on magazine.

The two concerns I’d have is a vehicle break-in at the parking lot at the zoo and the red lights you might catch on the drive down Canal St.

Don’t leave any tempting targets in the car and leave space between you and the car in front of you if you have to stop on Canal.

You all should be fine.

You people are truly insane. You are not coming to Mogadishu. You will be fine. Come, live your life, drop the cloak of abject fear and irrational terror. It will be OK. Odds are you will be able to come to New Orleans, enjoy the many attractions it has to offer, then go home safely to live another day.

TLDR - stop being a bunch of fearful big ol' bag of pussies.

Not intended as sarcasm:

If you decide not to use them I will gladly take them off your hands. My daughter is coming into town next month and she loves the zoo and has never been to the aquarium. Would save a lot of money.

Seriously, time of day is very important, daylight hours in busy area, odds are with you. If you walk down Decatur St. after 10pm, you are asking for it. Get drunk and fall asleep in a door front, you are going to get rolled, I promise you.

Uber driver dropped me off at the wrong entrance to the Intercontinental, we just had to walk about half a block, had to fend off 2 panhandlers.

Boomers like me from NO, are the most damning, we remember when you could literally go anywhere, it was an open city, we went to jazz clubs a cop would not go to today.

No doubt crime is out of control in New Orleans but yall are acting like its Somalia. Folks from the Northeast wouldn't be sending there kids to Tulane if the entire city were a warzone. The area around the zoo is perfectly safe. The aquarium is going to have a ton of tourists. Don't stay out past 10pm and you'll be fine.

There are a lot of immature morons who have never stepped foot in NOLA yet deemed it appropriate to answer this man's questions.

If that applies to you, please return to your parent's basement. You are not equipped for success in the real world.
