That's more offensive to me than the OPs story

Does not compute: Take the bus to the country club.

I can see this lasting for a year or two before some intrepid kids convince their well-off families to get together and plan their own, private junior/senior prom that allows for such amenities that the school has refused these students. Thus, you will see what the school system was (supposedly) trying to avoid: a prom divided down socio-economic lines.
One prom will be the publicly-funded, school-sponsored prom. Economical, lacking in the style or grandeur that the kids these days enjoy. The other will be the exclusively private prom with the limos and party buses put on by the wealthier families for the popular, suburban children.

What are they going to do if you drive your car to the prom? I didn't see a punishment.

Wait. What?

The most important job as a parent today is to teach your kids about things like this and why this is doomed to fail.

Country Club is not school property, one call to head of CC by a local Baller, and this shite will be nipped in the bud quickly
These f'in schools and their teachers/leaders. Instead of worrying about the female teachers fricking students, or actually teaching, they are worried about stupid shite.

Modern day Democrats are scum of the earth

I would not be surprised if a lot of kids decide to just not go at all. Forcing kids to not only take the bus, but then making it 15 bucks per kid...that's ridiculous. Calling it equality because some kids can't afford expensive options, and then making a profit on it. Lol sounds like a school board type of move.

T-shirts and jeans only will be next. Not everyone can afford a nice dress or Tuxedo.

Let's cancel proms, not everyone can afford dresses and tuxes.

do you think anyone gets the irony/hypocrisy?
Yeah, and the fact that it's OK to shame the poorer students who don't have a vehicle every day of the school year, just not for the prom? And the fact that they are shamed every day by the clothes they wear vs designer clothes, that's OK? And the fact that some can't go to the prom AT ALL because they can't afford it, that's OK? And don't forget about the people that have to go stag because they couldn't get a date, why isn't this being addressed by the bleeding heart school board? Yeah, the hypocrisy is fricking outstanding.

Ok, so what if you show up in one anyway? Nothing?

Well, that is stupid. My parents and I spent an insane amount of money that we didn't have so that I could go to prom and be fancy and stuff. I had fun at the time.
Together, all of my friends all pitched in for a limo. Neither one of us, except for one came from very well off homes. Prom was fun because it allowed all of us to be fancy for one night. None of us were used to that at all.
Of all the things I paid for with Prom, the Limo was probably on the cheaper end. Hell, at my school, it was $75 a person just to be able to go to prom. My parents paid $200-$300 on my tux. I knew multiple girls who said their dress was almost $1000.
Now that I think about it. Prom is expensive as shite.
Extremely overrated as well. All of my so-called best friends whom I hung with at Prom that I just knew we would be tight forever, I only talk to 1 person still. My date at the time, we broke up a couple months into college. I could have completely forgone Prom and my life would be the exact same.

quote:frick that, I gguarantee that I would not be attending. I freaking hhated riding the bus to school everyday. Now you want me tto ride this dingy musty yellow school bus with a bunch oof folks I hate while being dressed up nicely. That just ruins prom.
the only way to get to the prom at the Rockleigh Country Club in Bergen County is to take a chaperoned school bus at a cost of $15 a person

So renting a limo is what, $150 for one ride? Split with 5 couples, that’s $15/person.
So what’s the actual benefit here?

$15 a person.
Yet again, a government controlled "option" that is shittier and more expensive than that of the free market in the name of "equality."
$15 per person to ride a fricking school bus? The kids can pitch in for Uber Black for far less than that.

Get dropped off a dross the street or adjacent to the venue. Smile as you walk in.
