About a year ago, my company hired a new supervisor who required her employees to email her when they arrived in the morning, went to lunch, came back from lunch, took a break, came back from break, etc. Basically, she wanted to know every time they left their desks for more than just a few minutes. They started doing exactly what you said. They flooded her inbox with bullshite emails until she gave in and changed the policy.

Bury that fricker in emails! About a week into it, slip in a sentence in the bottom of email no. 64 for that day about how you’re planning a 2 week vacation starting next week. If s/he doesn’t reply, take that vacation, find a new job, and never look back.

I used to have a boss like this and he did way more shite than just this. All were total dick moves on his part. He got fired after numerous complaints about his dick attitude.

20 years ago I worked in a job where the lame manager started having one of the admins walk around every morning with a clipboard to check off who was at their desk by 7:00 AM.
We were all salary so it was a BS move. I found a new job not long after

IIRC, you can set up Outlook to send emails at a certain time. Enterprising individuals would just type them all out first thing in the morning, and go about doing what they actually needed to do

If it were me, I'd email him every time I left my chair to piss, get a drink of water, whatever.....I would send him so many emails, he'd spend all day just reading bullshite emails.

I'd at least make sure my team cc'd him on their 2 hour check ins...

New boss. Doesn't have enough to do yet. Trying to figure who is strong and who is not. If you like your job and the pay-scale, do what he asked. It will stop once he gets a handle on how your team performs. If production drops across the board due to this mandate, his boss will get to the bottom of it.

What a pain in the arse.

I will say though, making your employees report every two hours will keep them more focused and feel urgency. I hate that kind of environment and there are negatives if it's too aggressive but it's a mind-frick. You make the employee report a Zero every two hours, it causes them consciously/subconsciously to find something or push harder.

I had a boss like this that would want us to call him for every step of the job. So I just took his direction to heart and let him eventually tell me that I didn't need to call him so much. Didn't take very long.

You must walk into their office right now and take a big, hot, steamy shite on their desk. Doing anything less makes you a pussy.
