FYI even if it’s half a mil people, it’s literally the bottom percent of income. The actual impact would be so meager the average citizen can’t tell the difference.
The dumb people here think $20 is middle class or something. This is CA not backwoods LA

Managers at fast food make 60k+ on average.
Seems like a pretty good job for an uneducated high school drop out to be able to achieve by simply showing up to work on time for a year.
Keep in mind, many college degree entry level jobs make less than 60k a year.
Seems to me if I were an uneducated person with kids all I have to do to get a decent salary is frickin show up to work and become a manager of the Burger King.
Sooooooo why do we need to raise the min wage for the jobs meant for high school kids to $20?

What do you think increasing the minimum wage to $20 will do to the purchasing power of those that survive and continue to have their $20 an hour min wage burger flipping job?
Does their purchasing power go up? Does it go down? Does it remain the same?
Does their weekly hours worked stay the same, go up, go down?
What is the average number of employees working per shift now, and what will it be in 6 months, will it go up, down, remain the same?
Don’t run awayyyyyy

You’re a moron. You don’t become a manager in 2 years at fast food nor is 60k a decent wage in CA. You have no idea on other parts of the country outside of your small bubble.
You want to use big words like purchasing power but your small mind can’t fathom that these people are such a small part of the economy that there is no real impact

You can become a manager in less

My autistic brother became a manager at a fast food restaurant within 2 years and he’s frickin autistic

Prove it. Show me his LinkedIn resume or anything.
You can’t because you want to lie to try and win an argument on the internet

I don't agree with a minimum wage but the market wage in California is probably even higher than $20. Only the "nobody wants to work" crew is paying less than that.

So you think everyone who works at fast food is a squatter? Those people make up less than .1%.
Or roughly the same number of actual trannies in society, fads not withstanding???

CA looks like a pretty big place. I’d imagine the variance in COL is pretty great there. 20/hr is probably a good wage in large swaths of that vast state.

Increasing his employees’ wages will cost Johnson about $670,000 each year. He will have to raise prices anywhere from 50% to 75% at his stores, and is no longer hiring or seeking to open new locations in California, he said.
fixed for accuracy
$40 for burger fries and drink meals will be the norm

Why don’t you give some of that extensive net worth to people working fast food in other states?

I'm guessing he really means the 15%

It really isn’t for most of the state AND the most amount of people are in the high impact areas.
Remember CA tax is state wide and with inflated wages, federal income takes a larger chunk too.

Almost every software you use is created or managed in CA. Even the servers that host the websites you like are serviced there. Your phone was designed there, so was your laptop pc etc

Stupid unskilled workers are going to price themselves out of the job market. Robots are coming.

Due to happier higher paid employees, the drive-thru windows at California's Popeyes can now be done in less than an hour.
