It treats the symptom rather than the cause, but it definitely works for temporary relief.

I use it to prevent problems. Whenever I’ve been outside on a day when it’s windy and a lot of dust/pollen is stirred up, I use the neilmed before bed. Clear sinuses the next morning. Same goes for after being in potentially moldy places like a dingy hunting blind etc. it’s really pretty remarkable how well it works for prevention. Ain’t going to stop a virus but will help those symptoms

You're talking about nasal turbines, not sinuses.

Do neti pots actually clear sinuses or are yall conflating turbinates with sinuses?

My son had surgery that required going up through his nasal cavity. ENT put us on this and says he uses it twice a week himself just to keep things open.

Used a netti pot for years but recently got a navage. Navage is more expensive because of the refill packs but it is far superior

Yes and yes.

As others have mentioned, it opens you up if you have inflammation in your nasal passages and are experiencing sinus pressure. That happens to me occasionally. It’s temporary relief from what is usually a sinus infection or head cold. Get the salt packet and use hot distilled water.

My personal experience

The "pot" works but the battery operated "wand" works better

Only use distilled water

Use the pac as directed

I liked it and it did work for me but morning and evening allergy pills do similar without the added work.

It worked WONDERS for my husband. He's sleeping better I think but I know that I am ... his job has him in and around rice chaf/dust and it causes allergy type issues.

We were both skeptical but for $15 it was worth trying. He doesn't do it every day at this point.

I used to see Dr Thomas Fields ENT when I was a kid. He had a heart attack and ended up laid up for a while and his patients were referred to Dr Stassi. He had a sinus washing machine that literally sucked out your sinuses and you could see the result. Lay back in the chair and say “K k k.”

I never forgot how good it felt to have that done. I fantasized about having my own device to do the same.

That device looks like it might be a way to have that pleasure again.

Man, my neti pot is a lifesaver in the spring and fall. Especially after LSU home games.

They help a lot.

You should use one twice a day when you start getting that initial “I feel a cold coming on” tingle in your nose and post nasal drip. I’m a firm believer doing that really blunts a cold.

I don’t feel like reading this thread so I’ll just state what has no doubt already been said. They’re great as long as you use distilled water or water that you boil first. That way you can avoid any brain eating amoebas.

They work well, once you learn how to use them. The first couple of times you will feel what it is like to be “waterboarded”.

Not a threat to many here.

Absolutely they work great!

I went from 3 or more sinus infections a year to 1 every 2 years
