Can you claim cash as stolen to your insurance company and is it covered?

Yes, but most companies limit to $200

Crime has gotten bad in most places now. I have had monitored alarm for years for kids and home safety. No one would stick around when that horn goes off. Also installed Arlo security camera system in front, garage and back door. Also have 9mm if something gets inside.

Don't have dog but they are great deterrents. I would definitely recommend a monitored alarm(most will install it for free if you get contract with them), and security cameras. If that guy had the Arlo, he would know right away someone was at his house, same for the monitored alarm.

How much cash? Like $2k or $200k?

I'd imagine if he had 200k in cash he would have a walk-in safe or very large safe that someone isn't going to crack or move in the bed of a pickup.

Just saying, he didn’t give us a range. Maybe his neighbor is a drug dealer with a large amount of cash in his house, and stupidly did a deal out of his house and the druggie targeted him for the burglary

best bud and neighbor is Senior Management at ADT. He hooked up front gates and our cul de sac with 4K cameras with night vision.

I suggest everyone do the same. The app is incredible, maybe 1/2 second delay at most. Protect your property.

Shitty non-observant neighbor(s).

You can't sneeze in my neighborhood without people opening their front doors.

Someone that wants to break into a house is gonna be much more interested in nice neighborhood than the hood.

No neighborhood is perfectly safe

This is an outlier in your description's. Why would a neighbor say "My kitchenaid mixer was taken!". Not calling you out but it would be weird to say that to a neighbor.

Pretty fricking bold to do that during the day and in a subdivision.
Most burglaries do happen during the day and during the week because the burglars know that’s when people are least likely to be home. They are at work and school.

I had about a 30 minute conversation with the neighbor about it. I’m not going to go over every detail but thought it was weird they would take their mixer.

As for the cash, no idea how much was taken nor did I ask. He does own his own business so I’m imaginging it has something to do with that.

Well, they are expensive. I think they are several hundred dollars.

Just something to pawn off for some cash.

I lived in Houston for several years, there were 3-4 employees at my co who went home to empty houses over the years.

I mean where they back a Uhaul up and load everything .

Most were in upper middle class neighborhoods

Burglars don't case a residence and learn the home owners schedule for a basic home robbery.

They do if this isn't their first rodeo.

Not long after moving to BR ten years ago my house was robbed (the Tuesday before Thanksgiving). Apparently the guys had driven through the neighborhood earlier that morning to see how many vehicles were at the houses in the neighborhood (University Hills). Later after most have gone off to work (around 10am) they would just pull up to a house with no vehicle, knock on the door and when no one answered they would break in and steal whatever they could get within 15-20 minutes.

They did this to a number of houses in the neighborhood in just one day.

Alarm systems are great, especially if you can catch video of them in the act. Nothing beats the barking of a large-sounding dog though. Had my dog been at the house that day (50lb rottie mix) I have no doubt they would have left my place alone.
