My neighbor went out Saturday morning around 7am and his house was broken into shortly after he left. They broke his basement window, opened the garage and backed his truck in. They took everything, TVs, small appliances like his microwave and kitchen aid mixer as well as a large amount of cash. Apparently the guy was watching and waiting for him to leave and was in and out within an hour according to the cameras in the neighborhood.

This all happened within 15 feet of my house and my wife and I were awake with our kids right next door. We live in Buford, Ga which we thought was a pretty safe place. I don’t know why but this really bothers me and is freaking me out. I feel bad for not seeing/hearing anything.

We are upgrading our security system and I am locked and loaded with my 85lb dog but the thought of someone unwanted coming in my house when my kids are home is terrifying.

I know, CSB but this is really bothering me. Anybody else get broken into or have something similar? I’ve had my car broken into and I didn’t really care as much but this one gets me for some reason.

I know some folks in Duluth/Lawrenceville area that sold their home recently due to increased crime. Seems like Gwinnett and some other Atlanta suburban counties aren’t what they used to be.

Pretty fricking bold to do that during the day and in a subdivision.

Sounds like it was likely someone that knew him. Ex girlfriend, ex employee, etc. Burglars don't case a residence and learn the home owners schedule for a basic home robbery. They'd have no idea what was actually in the home. Not to mention they knew his schedule obviously if they knew he was going to be gone awhile.

Almost guarantee you its someone he knew. Could even be a meth head family member.

LOL, I know it because my cameras caught it and I talked to my neighbors about it. They came over with the cops when they found it. The cops have our camera footage and have a description of the truck because of it. We didn’t get the back license plate though so it was basically useless.

I do think it was an inside job though because how else would they know this guy had a ton of cash. Either way, still a bold move and someone that bold is scary.

She acts like a .357 but is more of a nerf gun when you get up close. A good belly rub will render her useless.

I assume your neighbor does not have an alarm system, right?

9 out of 10 it was a sloot he brought home, or ex girl friend/side piece, that was involved, and got her new man to help

How do you prove someone took "a lot of cash"?

Also wouldn't doubt its an inside job. The cameras probably "just missed" his license plate.

Can you claim cash as stolen to your insurance company and is it covered?
