WHATEVER YOU DO...DO IT NOW!

I'm in the industry, car values are dropping daily. Your offer will too if you wait.

Do it!

Car max was low balled me when I took my car to be appraised. I’m pleasantly surprised by what Carvana has offered, though.

Of course, you’ll always get about $5k more with a private sale.

For those of you that have done a trade, will they haggle on the price of the car you want to get?

Fair if you want to get ripped off relative to basically any other way to get rid of it. You pay for convenience. They will be thousands below what you can get either trading elsewhere or selling yourself. but you'll get money today.

This has not been my experience.

What experiences have you had with Carmax that lead you to believe this is true?

Literally just sold my shitty jeep. Real piece of shite. Car Max offered $1,500. I put a sign up last weekend for $5,000 (not even worth that) and settled for $4,500. So yeah. Don’t sell to Carmax.

I don’t think that Carmax, Vroom or Carvana will haggle on the trade in or the sales price. It’s take it or leave it- that’s their business model. They might budge on some of the fees/add-on’s, but I’m not sure about that.

They gave me a decent amount on my trade in. But it was contingent on making the sale. Very satisfied with my experience. That said, it's a somewhat amateurish operation. The ones in BR and Covington anyway. Go in armed with knowledge. It seems their business model is to deal with people who dont know much about cars or financing.

I have used Carvana and CarMax

Both super easy. CarMax takes a bit longer.

CarMax offered way more once and Carvana offered way more once.

I would never use givemethevin.

They harassed the hell out of me for days.

Just sold my car this week. Carvana offered me $8,100. Sold it to givemethevin.com for $11,000.

Carmax gives a fair trade in value the 2 times I used them. Not the same as selling directly, but worth not entertaining the dregs of society in my opinion.

Same. GMTV was $1800 better than anyone else. Done and check in hand in a few days.

Granted I could have sold it myself for probably $2, $3k more, but the time and no hassle was worth it.

Stop at a couple dealer used car lots and ask if they works be interested, to check Carmax price is best. They are just a big box used car lot. This option is a god quick payment, no hassle whole sale price. You could ask more Selling it yourself, depends on how much effort and BS you want to put up with.
