With the price of used vehicles so high, why wouldn’t you want to sell it privately? Seems like you’d save thousands.

One of the main reasons to not sell privately is for tax benefits of a trade.

Otherwise, it probably does make sense to just sell privately

And reports are out about values starting to get more realistic as new vehicle demand drops and supply catches up.
The used car market has probable peaked

I had a good experience when I sold my father's vehicle there, offer was higher than give me the vin.

If you have one that has issues that aren’t obvious then Car Max works. If it’s a good vehicle for its mileage you’ll get lowballed.

Had a Corolla with a failing transmission and got more from Carmax than the car was worth because it only started slipping at interstate speed. Car also had 220k miles.
