I bet if y’all were to get divorced all of a sudden she would want half of it and some. Bitches be fricking crazy. I’d buy the car and tell her to shove it.

You better invest that money and then turn down some jobs if you think it’s that bad. Otherwise she is leaving and you’ll end up paying for it because the divorce system in this country is against men. Men go out , bust their arse to provide, while a woman does some meaningless Secretary bull shite and then wants to take off and take half wit em.

Yeah, that won't turn out badly at all.

She said she wanted to build some small houses on our land for starter homes for our kids, so I couched it in that idea, since our land doesn’t have enough building spots for every kid. But she’s right, I am never satisfied. I just don’t get why that’s a problem. If I’m not leveling up or attempting to what’s the point? She knew that about me when we got married.

Read the Op to my wife bc she’s a woman and too damned dumb to read on her own.

But she did have an interesting response

“Maybe the wife is trigger shy because she is scared they’re going to lose it all”

“If you came from nothing, you’re biggest fear is going back to nothing”

That could work... or she finds this thread and has some poor plant baw and the OP arrested for rape and baw doesn’t have anything anymore

Tend to agree with that.

I know I’d be nervous about purchasing a new “luxury” car AND having a newer, bigger house built when my husband’s construction company has only been “really successful” for a couple of years.

You’ve been gone 6 of the last 8 weeks, and being the owner of a successful company I’m guessing you work a lot.

There’s nothing wrong with that, but it sounds like she’s at a point of contentment and you aren’t there yet.

If it was about that, she would tell me. It’s not about spending too much money. She’d spend the cost of the car seeing Europe in a heart beat. She thinks I’m becoming materialistic or a bad person or whatever. I’ve always had a taste for nice things. Not to show off, but because I like quality. I actually love my old truck because it’s well made and it works and after some mods, it’s fast as shite. Almost no one will ever see the house I build her in the woods, but I’ll know it’s there.

If I didn’t need a new car or new house, I’d rather spend the money on travel too. I’d much rather have the experiences than materialistic things (within reason, if it isn’t a “need”).

If you can’t ever be satisfied, you’re always going to be chasing more. You’ll build this new house and get the new car and make new friends who have more than you...then you’ll want the garage full of toy cars and two vacation homes.

All fine, but if you can’t set a goal and slow down when you’ve reached that goal...you’ll always be chasing more and die un-appreciative.

I also find it surprising that for growing up dirt poor and being so successful, you aren’t willing to be more charitable than you are.

I know, right? He could have bought a loaded out Sierra for that kind of dough.

ETA and written it off as a work truck.

You could use some of the advice offered though.

Alright, Dave Ramsey. You don’t have enough info to offer meaningful advice.

She wants to divorce you and wants half that cash, not a house with a huge mortgage

Because I said I’m not writing a 150k check? For one, I don’t trust any single charity to give that much in one shot. How much of one’s income is sufficient?

Ah it’s not about the house she is fine with that because she gets to enjoy it. She doesn’t want YOU to get a nice car that YOU enjoy with the money YOU earned. Typical woman. She wants it all spent on her

Is the rest of yours and her family still lower class financially? She may not want to appear better off than her family
