She’s grounding you and with the S class statement, you need it.

If you’ve saved plenty, then enjoy the German car of your choice. Hell, go grab a C8!!!!!

Do keep perspective though. If you truly are doing that well with a solid business plan that has healthy growth (keeping you insulated fro manual labor) and a succession plan, be humble......be proud too, yet show people you know how to be “there”.

It does when you realize it's made up.

This is a good point. I've seen people who have had family members come out of the woodwork when someone appears to have "money to burn" and get mad when they are told me and stir up drama.

Money, success, can be a very fleeting thing. One bad investment, one lawsuit (you are a contractor so that is very possible), one illness, etc. etc.

Be humble and instead of that 6000 SF house, be happy with a very nice 3000 SF house....and do you really need an S63...nope.

This thread doesn’t make sense. Dead broke but buys trucks with cash, and funds a business with cash?

Guy said I was probably financing F250s for 84 months and keeping up with the jones, which is funny, because I bought a 2 year old stripped down 1999 F350 off a construction yard for 11k cash in 2001 (sold a car that I had paid off for 9k and had 2k in cash for the difference. Some chick rear ended me and totalled that in 2012, and I used the insurance money to buy a low miles 2000 f350 for 12k which I still drive today as my work truck. I just upgraded the turbo, injectors, transmission etc and plan to drive it from 250k miles currently to 500k and then reevaluate. I found deals on both trucks several states away. Same thing I’m going to do on the S63.

For the guy talking about the warranty..who cares about warranties? The guy that bought it new paid 120k more than I will to have a warranty for the 15k miles he drove it. I’ll gladly pay 65k and maintain it out of pocket. I’ll find one the cheapest one on the internet under 20k miles, drive it to 90k (it’s a 3rd vehicle, so probably 5 years later) and then sell it for 60-70% of what I paid and will have had the car I wanted for 5k a year + maintenance which doesn’t really hit hard until 100k miles.

If it was about that, she would tell me. It’s not about spending too much money. She’d spend the cost of the car seeing Europe in a heart beat. She thinks I’m becoming materialistic or a bad person or whatever. I’ve always had a taste for nice things. Not to show off, but because I like quality. I actually love my old truck because it’s well made and it works and after some mods, it’s fast as shite. Almost no one will ever see the house I build her in the woods, but I’ll know it’s there.

Oh, she thinks you're becoming materialistic you say?

Hm. Can't imagine how she got that idea. OP, you could be throwing away the best thing that ever happened to you.

I wasn’t trying to be subtle, but I do need help getting her to relax with the Mother Theresa stuff. She actually said something about how many people you could feed for a year with the cost of an S63. We give money to charity but I’m never writing a check that big while I’m alive.

Haven’t read past this post. Get you and S63 if you want it, and have fun driving it. She can drive a 1992 Honda Civic if she wants to meet you somewhere.
