I think the price should be raise to produce enough revenue to cover all expenses of running the parks. That way it's not supplemented with tax money

$70 is Ok as long as the rides are cool and are maintained, the lines are short (some kind of speed pass reservation system), and concessions serve a giant turkey leg.
Otherwise make it $100. No change needed.

Yes.
I am typically a small government right leaning guy, but I fully support our national parks.
It is one of the few good things the federal government does.

$500???? A family of three can barely even get into the park for only 500

The NPS should be supplemented with tax money. A lot of national park sites wouldn't be able to survive on their own if they weren't supplemented with tax money.
I think about 2/3 of NPS sites are free.

frick no. They're already trying to price people out of the parks.
I’m not so sure that’s a bad thing.

About that slide, there may be some confusion
There was this slide in 2006, the one I originally talked about
But there was this slide from June, that appeared to block the road for a few days.

We already pay taxes for this. But if our tax dollars are needed for a massive giveaway of federal government funds to people who are already rich, to make them richer, we must all do our part to pitch in a little extra. Right?

Yes, if it will keep out the riff raff.

The people who keep talking about keeping out the "riff raff" obviously haven't spent much time visiting national parks. Most of the traffic jams, crowding, and general annoyances are caused by foreigners who think they're professional photographers. They don't give a frick about our parks other than their photo ops, and the fee increase would mean nothing to them.
If they really want to reduce stress on the parks they should go to a lottery system and/or require advanced registration to limit the number of daily visitors.

Mostly pasty, dirty-toed patchouli sniffers.

I was in Yellowstone and the Tetons in June and back in the Tetons again in September. I can honestly say the park pass was one of the cheapest parts of the trip. $200 for a 7 day foreign pass would generate a ton extra though.

The crowds in national parks aren't caused by the "riff raff" some of you may think. A lottery is a much better system

Support for the heavily used parks but not for all of them
Maybe a discount for those over 70 and those with a valid college ID. I really got into multi day backpacking trips and national parks when I was in college.

I would include those in "riff raff" basically anyone not respecting the parks.
Lottery works. Limiting buses or making them more expensive may work. Etc. A Price increase may effect trip package prices that they are buying.

I agree. Combination of increased fees for non-citizens and lottery system for the busier parks.

I donate $25 to the National Park service every year and it gives me a pass to enter any park free. For those who visit a lot of parks, you should look into this
