These homeowners should sue the politicians and the Sierra Club for the gross mismanagement of public lands for the last 50 years.

Great response ex-con.

your Governor seems to think bad forest management is to blame.
Forbes
there are hundreds if not thousands of articles like this.
quote:
Newsom didn’t admit it, but the outrageous cost to remove a few dead trees from private land is a consequence of California’s Byzantine environmental regulatory patchwork.
This is California’s big secret: it’s not climate change that’s burning up the forests, killing people, and destroying hundreds of homes; it’s decades of environmental mismanagement that has created a tinderbox of unharvested timber, dead trees, and thick underbrush.

Was headed there next week. Had a reservation at Sterling on Monday.
Super bummed this is happening. Just glad I wasn't there when I did.

I’m not defending California forest management because it’s been a disaster, but there are thoughts that these fires have been started by arsonists.

Newsom knows it’s largely forest mismanagement.
Believe it or not Rebs, Newsom has been very moderate and reasonable as a California dem. He’s not a progressive liberal.
Comments like this on forest mismanagement, against the wealth tax, statements about his ability to work with Trump. He’s a reasonable guy. California could be much worse off.

I have no doubt this could be true, however, the horrible forest management is allowing these fires impact to be much more severe than a properly managed area. I read where the Glass fire was spreading at 1,000 acres per hour.

A single controlled burn once a decade would not have done anything. But continuous, every few years, controlled burns would have dramatically reduced the severity of these fires and most would have been able to be contained. As it it now, there is so much fuel for these fires in the form of dead trees everywhere that they explode as a fire bomb and send embers everywhere. These embers land in other extremely dry areas due to winds and light those in fire. Treat this and now it’s an out of control nightmare.

Man these images and reports are depressing and tragic.

I remember what folks in California said after Katrina...Why rebuild, it’s just going to happen again. Why are we wasting all this money on New Orleans?

Don’t you remember how much help we needed and how brutal a tragedy it was and how hurtful those comments were? Why wish that on anyone? I’m 100% positive everyone in Napa Valley didn’t say that, and I know some people there who were very involved in Katrina relief efforts.
We should be better than that. Don’t live in spite and hatred. We know how brutal tragedy can be. We should have compassion not hatred.

California REALLY needs to reassess their electrical infrastructure (since that is what they have blamed many of the fires on) and they they REALLY need to revamp their forestry management processes (since that is making things significantly worse).
Nah. It's easier (and lazier) to blame climate change.

And it's just as easy and lazy to blame forest management. The reality is that the fires are similar to Louisiana's coastal loss in that there are numerous issues at play, both within our control and outside of our control, that come together to create a perfect tinderbox. You can do a little something to help fix one aspect, but unless you look at it as a whole, then nothing will be done.

Seems to me like the only real solution is extensive controlled annual burns. I have not spent much time out west but I do remember noticing the extreme amount of layed down timber in colorado.

That sucks but decades of bad voting and really ignorant environmental policies are coming home to roost for the west and in particular California.
Keep voting for politicians who value a tree the same as a human and this is the result you get.

Yeah I’m not a big NAPA wine lover. Prefer Columbia Coast wineries.
My sympathies to all of them tho. Horrible situation to see happening to anyone.
