Hate to see Faillia on there. They are wonderful people who make wonderful wine. Always have a blast when I would visit there

fricking sucks.

Went out there about a year ago when they had fire issues then. Felt so bad for those residents.

I know you can’t do anything for the vines, but the big buildings like the wineries with some acreage can’t you build in a little protection area? I know those fires get incredibly hot, but if you just put grass and parking lots for 100 yards around the buildings would it not mostly spare them?

Always wondered what course he played that day.

The silverado, obviously. Home to the Safeway open! Beautiful course. Atlas peak road is a bitch of a climb on a bike too and all you have to do to ride it is turn right out of the hotel onto, get this, atlas peak rd.

My heart's breaking for this area. So many memories up there.

Apparently it is called the "Staglin Family Vineyard". I don't see any reference to it being destroyed.

Just found out that Mother and Father in law lost their home in Napa. He bottled wine you can get locally in Baton Rouge, Thibodaux, Houma area called Burly Wine. Very very sad day. Please pray for them. Just so sad for them rite now.

We were there after the 2017 fires and most growers we met felt that the vineyards served as a firebreak. The big damage was smoke damage to the crop and not burning of the vines. We saw very little damage to vines but a lot of damage around the vineyards. Atlas Peak, however was destroyed in the 2017 fires.

Or, you know, some professional forestry management programs.

Sucks seeing Newton on that list. Was our favorite the last time we visited.

Lack of management is getting most of the blame, but the reality is that without sufficient rainfall the amount of dead wood and vegetation that accumulates is way beyond what can be removed through forest management.

Friend’s house burned completely to ground overnight. They had to evacuate in middle of night last night at 3am. It’s so sickening. Very sad.

Hurricanes and floods are bad news. But I’d take them 100/100 times over fires.

This is true if the old vines can weather the fires. As long as the roots don't get destroyed, you're probably right.
Cent, you’re going all Chauncey Gardener on us here...

Sorry for the destruction for those folks.

Was a cool place, I’ve had good times there.

What is sad is that these politicians were more concerned about a mouse’s habitat than peoples homes and lives. Cleaning out underbrush and removing dead trees Would have solved this problem.

So, tell me how removing dead trees and underbrush is not the answer. Indians living in Yellowstone and other forests practiced yearly spring burns for centuries. This au naturale BS is retarded.
