My son survived a nasty divorce at age 4, an unsupportive mother since then, a fight by me for primary custody over the next 6 years, all while playing baseball, making honor roll, late nights while watching his mom and her husband cuss me out in their driveway for letting him play sports and the late nights, being told by them he’ll never be good enough, never succeed and to be scared to fail. He dealt with all that to be 13 now, the starting pitcher for his prep team, headed to make varsity in HS next year as a pitcher, a perpetual honor roll maker, and has a huge love and respect for God and his family. How he did all that through the negative in his life truly amazes me every day.

Both my boys joined the Army and are currently serving in Iraq, they believe in God, aren't afraid of hard work, respect their elders, and hate liberals/liberalism. I have no complaints.

My 13yo, we'll call him Braxxxton, took me yard yesterday. And I wasn't just throwing BP, I was full out pitching. I can still get the heater up around 82, and the curve still falls off the table. Had him 0-2. Was going to waste a fastball up in his eyes before I broke him with the Uncle Charlie. I didn't get the heater up and left it around the letters. He deposited it about 350, over the center field fence. I was very impressed. His next at bat he got some chin music. Good times..

I see all of that as good except

hate liberals/liberalism
and blee me I'm not liberal or Democrat, I think part of today's problems are because it's not enough to have opposing views, and maybe even respect that, but to hate people who have different views/beliefs/opinions?

I think I saw that same thing in the LSU game Friday night.

9Fiddy wins. Some kids are resilient and get it. Having a solid parent helps tho.
My daughter who is 5 is so smart and competitive, it scares me. Plays as hard and relentless as any kid I’ve ever seen.

Son got into Stanford, Duke, Vandy, and Georgetown for undergrad.
Turned them all down for a $300k+ scholarship at a Top 20 school.

I agree. We could do with a lot less hatred and a lot more understanding and working together in our country.

They just are. They love others, and others love them. People genuinely like our "children", and that is awesome! It really is.

Saved my life. Whenever things get really heavy and the dark thoughts creep in and the night seems like it will never end, I can hear those sweet little voices calling out “I love you daddy, don’t leave us.”
And it pushes the darkness away and gives me the strength to carry on and all I want to do is see my babies one more time and hug them and hold them tight.
They are my happiness.

Jake: Made it through Jr High and now is a backhoe operator for the county. Awesome because we expected him to be in jail
John: Played special teams for HS and was awarded player with the most heart. Awesome because he is a cold hearted son of a bitch.
Jason: Army paratrooper. Awesome because we didn't think the Syrians would hire him.
Nelly: Able to watch 6 kids ages 3-14. Awesome because it allows me and the wife a chance to head to the bar.
Roy: Just learned he was picked for a new program that teaches students how to build homes. Awesome because he's an arsonist and saw a niche he could fill.
The other ones haven't done anything awesome yet, but will share when they do.
