What is the appeal of Nola? I've yet to figure it out.

Going to end up with Texas level property taxes and Guatemala level government services.

Hell, the schools there may be better than here.

They were asking 1.2 MILLION in my old neighborhood of Buccaneer Villa North for one house, and there’s another new subdivision coming

Been a lot of talk about that. I personally think that house is hideous. Apparently it’s owned by some rap label guy

It’s expensive to be able to say your kids are the fourth generation in your family to attend the same New Orleans parochial school.

that you’re paying higher property taxes that people often criticize Texas for but without our roads and schools.

I’m in Houston visiting friends and we were discussing how the property taxes/No income tax is basically a shell game. I’d say income levels are close, as well as home value. They pay in property tax more than we pay in property tax + income tax combined. Now they likely get more for their money (I live in Jefferson), but I don’t feel it’s all that much different.

Here's what happened. The people who are buying up these houses in the inner city, in the Mid-City areas, they are buying them and renovating them. Those affect the value of those neighborhoods,” said Williams.

They can’t get insurance and live on dort roads without police.

The assessor isn’t supposed to unilaterally change property tax rates by these scales with no real basis

That’s still a small minority of them. The majority of them go back to NYC and CA right after they graduate.

Just don’t pay it like the city. City goes back decades from lawsuits they just ignore and don’t pay on them.

You can live in Jefferson, St Bernard, St Tammany, St Charles or Plaquemines and do that…

My sister lived in Denton, Denton County, and remember my b-I-l always pissed about their property taxes being so high.

Thankfully she’s out of eligibility. She’ll be in Washington or on CNBC and out of NOLA for good soon enough.

It’s a slow spiral down

Covid is over so no more federal money.

The city needs more tax revenue but the tax base must be eroding so they increase the rate on the suckers still there.

The best decision I ever made was moving out of Orleans parish. They couldn’t pay me to live there now.
