A fox’s urban meal of choice is definitely cat.
Coyotes will take cats but prefer small dogs.

Fox for sure. I used to live in the area and would see foxes on the same street almost every morning around 5:30-6:00 am.

Several years ago there was as a bobcat in the mag woods area. I would guess that is what you saw if it climbed a fence. Someone had a picture of it from their ring camera.

There are infinite animals that will eat your dog coming out of bluebonnet swamp. They follow a little canal right into those neighborhoods.

You can't stop it. You can either worry about it forever now or pretend you didn't know about it and let nature take its course. I chose the second option.

For sure Against what’s likely in suburbs of Louisiana (the non-human predators).

If anyone lives in mountain lion country like parts of California bring a gun and stay with your dog regardless of size. I saw a headline on the NYpost a couple weeks ago with one image of an Anatolian Shepherd and a husky sitting on outdoor couch with subject something like - the horrific moment a mountain lion breaks into SoCal woman’s backyard and rips apart her Anatolian Shepherd and her Husky. It also had a 2nd cropped image of the mountain lion standing over what was one or likely both of the dead dogs (image was mostly covered by an object but I thought i saw a paw of one and fur or tail/backend of the other on ground). I couldn’t even click on the link.

Not true.

quote:

It is extremely rare for foxes to eat or kill cats, as they are not natural prey. Foxes and cats are similar in size (8-12 lbs) and usually avoid each other, with cats often chasing foxes away. While foxes may act cautiously around cats, incidents are generally limited to protecting their young or scavenging an already dead.

In high school I saw Justin Wilson at the First NBC bank in Mandeville one day. He was wearing that outfit. Probably wore the same thing every day.

Coyote killed 3 neighborhood cats in a week several years ago in Southdowns on a single block. It left one in the streets in front of the owner's house. They usually roam at night.

Love when cat owners who let their cats roam free get a little taste jungle justice.

We used to hunt at Gum Cove and would run across evidence of wolves, particularly duck we weren't able to retrieve. What are left are coyote-wolf hybrids.

The first coyote I saw in SW LA was near Iowa in the mid 80's. I grew up in Vinton and Lake Chuck

I bet a fox.

We have tons of chipmunks and rabbits on my property, like tons. The foxes eat very well. I see them a lot and they can climb, especially gray ones.

Go to Tractor Supply and buy an electric fence charger, run a wire about 3 inches above the chain link fence.

I’ve got a large chicken yard,we have foxes, coyotes, bobcats and coons.I’ve never had anything climb the fence and get my chickens,12 years now.

A solar charger is the easiest to set up.
