Passive tone is poor style. Do better.

Sometimes these menial things actually serve a purpose and you don't realize it until you move up to a certain level. And a lot of times the orders are coming from higher up. If you suddenly have a new manager (and one who is micromanaging), the reason could be that the last guy wasn't getting everything the higher ups wanted done

Not saying you're not correct in your assumption, you probably are, but I've worked for a few people everyone called micromanagers who weren't really- they only seemed like it because (a) everyone just fricked around all day, and (2) I lacked a context as to why certain things are important within the company structure

This. When a department screws up, The C Suites come looking for the manager that allowed all the screw ups not the rank and file employees that screw up. At least that is the way it works at my company. There must be a cadence of accountability and if the manager can't hold rank and file employees accountable they will not be managers for long.

Perhaps it is your egregious misuse of the reflexive pronoun "myself" as a subject instead of the proper "I".

Note for the future, "me and my co-workers" would be equally incorrect.

Well, your grammar is incorrect. I wish people understood how to use “myself” properly.

That said, I totally dislike micromanagers and feel your pain.

If he used the CMMS system properly and had automated completion reports upon yall finishing the work orders shoot into his inbox he wouldn't have to email yall so much.

He sounds like rookie dumb manager.

Just wrap up a dead fish in your TPS report and turn it in. Maybe they won't be so quick to ask for the next TPS report (Office Space).....

One possible reason is...if yall don't do the small things correct then the bigger things may end up the same

your still mad when myself already admitted to being retarded. rude.

I was not really thinking about it in the context of the rest of OP's title when I made that post and agree it wouldn't be a suitable word substitution.

This isn't a bad strategy...micromanagers hate it when they get engaged not on their time. Micromanaging is part of THEIR routine so take it out of the routine. E-mail them small trivial questions at all odd hours... midnight..2 am sometimes... around lunch...around dinner. just after dinner. Blow their shite up till they sick of you and leave you the frick alone.

There's two causes to micromanaging:

1. The manager is an incompetent idiot who doesn't know what is going on and compensates by waving their arms around a lot.
2. The plant sucks and the plant manager who was called in was instructed to take everyone to task and hold them accountable and they are good at it.

Since the manager keeps catching everyone with their pants down, sounds to me like there are some accountability issues and you're embarrassed at getting called out for it. Maybe corporate thought it was time to break up the good ol' baw network and that's why they called in an outsider.

How close am I?

I mean if you aren't getting shite done, there's probably a reason they are micro managing. I hate it with every fiber of my soul, but I have employees that just will not get stuff done unless constantly reminded, and I'm not in a position to fire them. It's frustrating as hell to constantly annoy my underlings, but when bad reviews just cause a "lack of bonus" and they don't care, there's no freaking carrot.

Our plant manager manages in a much smaller, more micro way. Microgament I believe it's called. Multiple people wake up every day with emails from him asking if we've completed menial tasks or intend to complete them when they are due. When things aren't done there's never a question of why we couldn't, it's a scolding. This person "ain't from around here" and I believe that he thinks all of us La folks are just dumb.

Weird.

Out of all the "you might be dumb" and "just do your job" responses this is the only one that pissed me off.

Google Bill Butlicker and get back to me.

I have had to start doing that a little lately because of people leaving early, coming in late, goofing off during the day etc. I think I’m pretty easy but when things that should take 3-4 hours become tasks that take all day I can’t just let it go.
