There's two causes to micromanaging:

1. The manager is an incompetent idiot who doesn't know what is going on and compensates by waving their arms around a lot.
2. The plant sucks and the plant manager who was called in was instructed to take everyone to task and hold them accountable and they are good at it.

Since the manager keeps catching everyone with their pants down, sounds to me like there are some accountability issues and you're embarrassed at getting called out for it. Maybe corporate thought it was time to break up the good ol' baw network and that's why they called in an outsider.

How close am I?

This person is my managers manager. 95% of us get our shite done, myself included. As an example, he asked me yesterday if I was going to do a monthly tabulation on something that can't be done until the month is over, which means i do this on the first of every month(today) and I've been doing it every month for 4 years. Just drives everyone nuts.

I’m not from around here, so let me micro-manage your grammar…would you say “myself is being micro-managed”? If not, don’t say “myself and my co-workers are being micro-managed”.

The Plant Manager at the Valero St. Charles site is a micro manager. He came from a California site and doesn't understand how to manage people. He walks the halls constantly, checking up on everyone. You need to trust your managers to manage their people. He even walks through the Adm. Bldg. delivering the mail.

I hated when I had a micromanager as a boss.

Your boss is building a case against you, make the tasks a high priority or prepare for a salary increase with unemployment.

So your manager is asking you if you will complete your task on time? I’d definitely be triggered.

It's people like this who foster that kinda a-hole management in the OP.

I came from a place like that(9 years) to a place NOT like that(5 years).

It's like being in an abusive relationship and you're conditioned to believe that's 'life' and that's 'just the way it is'.

Then when/if you're lucky enough to land somewhere that's 100% NOT like that. Their employees are treated well, family comes first, etc AND they are profitable....

It makes you realize that some people are just fricking miserable poons

It should read: My co-workers and I are being micro-managed.
Because you would say: I am being micro-managed.
Not:Myself is being micro-managed.
How's that for micro-managing!

You could try doing your job to the best of your ability, professionally, promptly, and with some pride. That usually takes care of most of management’s needs.

You sound lazy and destined for a lay off/termination. Good luck.
