We either met our parents at a certain spot at a certain time, used a rotary dial pay phone to call our parents sometimes having to call collect, or we walked home.

This is why the current generation won't survive the zombie apocalypse.

How old are you to not have had cell phone when younger?

This has to be the dumbest fricking question I've read on this site. Do you really think no one was a kid prior to cell phones being a thing?

I didn't have a cell phone until I was in high school. I'm 29. I don't recall them being a big deal and being widely used until the 2000s. And even then, it wasn't what it is today.

It's amazing we were able to function before everyone had a computer in their pocket.

My parents would drop me off. I'd make a collect call on a pay phone from wherever I was. They would decline, and that was signal to come get me

I don’t get what the big deal is? Society changes and technology is not such a bad thing. I can picture and old geezer in the 1950’s bitching about all the young people and their cars while praising his generation that walked or rode horses when they needed to go somewhere

You had to actually remember people's number back then, so you could make a call from a pay phone if plans changed or whatever. I had a little book with people's phone numbers by my land line in my room. If you were cool, you had a pager, and knew all the codes that people would leave you.

I didn't get my first cell until college, but got my arse chewed the first couple of months until we switched to the nights and weekends plan. You wouldn't hear from me all week, but at 9pm on Friday......

They didn't mess around with charging when you used up your minutes. That added up QUICK. And roaming charges...

I had a "flip" phone... was an ericsson with a plastic cover that closed over the keys.

Because a kid doesn’t know how life was before his time?

Do you know first hand how life was before the car was invented?

I'll do you one better. My 5 year old niece and 7 year old nephew asked me "Uncle what did you used to do for fun when Nana wouldnt let you play with her phone"

Well, to start off with, my mom definitely did not have a cell phone when I was your age. So, I used to play video games and mostly go outside to play with friends.

Them: OMG that sounds horrible! I could never do that.

I wish I was exaggerating...

Hate to see these kids go back in time to late 60’s or early 70’s. No cell phones, computers, etc and 8 tracks for their music.

Great times we had back then.
