My wife’s nephew asked how did we get picked up before cell phones

I took my wife’s 12 year old nephew to the mall and he asked me how did we get picked up with no cell phones back then. I said it was easy you get dropped off at whatever location you were at and you tell your parents to pick them back up at this certain location at this time. He was shocked and amazed we functioned like that. Thinking about it now I can’t imagine this generation with their parents doing that. They would freak out not knowing there exact location.

I was a teenager in the early 2000s and I didn’t get my first cell phone until my senior year in 2005.

Hell, I'm the same age and didn't get a cell until my sophomore year at LSU.
My roommate and I used a landline and phone cards at Herget.
