If this is true you can never have any respect for her again because she's a F%^King IDIOT.

Just chalk it up to a very expensive lesson and let it go. It’s just money and you’ll make more. Just don’t let your wife near a phone ever again, take away all her debit and credit cards, and don’t ever let her out of the house again. If she asks to go somewhere, just whip her and tell her to go back in her room.

Why would you allow a woman access to that amount of money?

People need to quit answering the phone if they don’t know who is calling because 99% or the time it’s a scam.

The problem is the scammers spoof numbers, so they look like legitimate numbers. I get scam calls that appear to be coming from a local hospital. I answer because of concerns that a family member could be involved in something at the hospital. Once I answer and they identify themselves as some other entity, I know it's a scam.

I got one the other day that appeared to be from a local business. It was a scammer claiming to be from CVS calling to discuss my health benefits.

I've gotten calls showing my own number. I've also gotten calls from a few other people asking if I called them, so I know my number is being spoofed.

Quite often, the repairmen from companies will call from their own cells to advise they are on the way to the house to fix whatever it is, so I answer those unrecognizable numbers to avoid missing them. I'm smart enough to recognize a scam, though, so it's not a problem.

One good thing about living somewhere else with your old phone number is scammers call you with spoofed numbers in the same area code or area codes nearby to your phone number because people are more likely to answer local calls. I can ignore all calls with a Louisiana area code. I’ll answer it in the rare event I get a Houston area code.

They can be amazingly convincing.

When my Dad was 90, he almost gave $4k to scammers to get "his favorite grandson out of jail."

Dad wouldn't tell my sister anything about what was going on until she finally forced the issue. He bought the cards at Best Buy, and the clerks warned him about it being a scam.

They told him that my nephew was "at the precinct" in Sulphur Springs and needed bail. I gave Dad a bunch of shite. "You have a son who is a lawyer and you didn't think to call?" "You thought the city of Sulphur Springs has 'precincts'?"

It doesn't work like that. Every time OP looks at her he's going to be thinking about how this dumb bitch threw all his hard earned money away bc some random stranger that called her told her to.

I got this text last week. I ignored it because I’ve taken enough security trainings to know that it’s BS. But I can see how elderly people could fall for this. Scammers are straight scum.

It has all the telltale signs… urgency, grammar mistakes, threats, unsolicited, bogus link AND I haven’t received a citation in over 15 years.

“Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles (BMV) Final Notice: Enforcement Penalties Begin on June 29.
Our records show that as of today, you still have an outstanding traffic ticket. In accordance with Louisiana Administrative Code 15C-16.003, if you do not complete payment by June28, 2025, we will take the following actions:

1. Report to the DMV violation database
2. Suspend your vehicle registration starting June 29
3. Suspend driving privileges for 30 days
4. Transfer to a toll booth and charge a 35% service fee
5. You may be prosecuted and your credit score will be affected

Don't underestimate the scammers. They are very good at what they do. People who have never been arrested and have never had to deal with an arrest are surprisingly easy targets. They are told "not to tell anyone" to prevent someone from intervening.

I still have my landline and I get the scam calls on that, so even though I will answer something that looks to be a legit number, I'm prepared for it to be a scammer. I don't get scam calls on my cell. I do get the scam DMV texts there, though. I report them as junk which does nothing.

I've gotten the warrant calls on the landline as well, but not in a very long time. I tell them to come get me. The sheriff will be here waiting for them. They hang up.
