I prefer club car. They also take to mods a little better if you're trying to hotrod.

I was recently wondering if those places are going to hold their value. They developed like mad down there and it is catnip for Boomers. But there's a population dropoff after Boomers and I can't see Gen X moving there at the same rate. Everything there just seems Boomer centric but what happens when they all die or shuffle off to nursing homes?

What kind of golf cart was it? The wife and I are moving to a golf course community in a few days and I’m looking to buy a cart. Don’t know what’s good and what isn’t.

I would get a standard club car.

I would think that can be said about property values everywhere.

See I think it's the opposite. A lot of today's 40ish adults are less and less worried about having big yards and houses, and more of them are less handy around the house so I would think they are more inclined to move into a community like that as soon as they hit 55.

We aren't going to run out of Snowbird Karens for awhile, I think the villages are safe.

A couple of important tips if you go.

Just remember:

1. The "Loofah Code". Use a color-coded loofah on your car or golf cart to signal lifestyle preferences.

2. "Upside Pineapple". A sign of welcoming. Or a party going on.

It's a retirement community, unbelievably quiet. I was there 3 days before I heard a neighbors voice.

ickleball daily, swimming, hot tub, evening live music and dancing, quiet friendly neighborhood, and riding a golf cart everywhere. What a place, I highly recommend it as a 55+ community. Now we
are looking to sell and relocate

I’ve always considered The Villages to be a cautionary tale of what happens to people who don’t properly plan for retirement.

I’d say that’s fairly average for well adjusted people

Have first kid around 27-28 and your first kid has theirs at same time

In what way is it a cautionary tale?

Ask anyone that provides a service in central Florida, the Villages are the gold standard for difficult people to do business with. The stereotype of an entitled boomer exists for a reason.

Ask anyone who grew up in the northeast and they will tell you a story about a couple that lived in the neighborhood that everyone hated. Everyone celebrated when they finally retired and moved to Florida. That couple now lives in The Villages.
The funny part is they go there thinking they made it in life, when in reality anyone with significant wealth from up north laughs at The Villages.

If you’re going to need a second car for getting around or for your second home a golf cart is super cheap. It’s not a luxury it’s a cheap solution.

In the Florida Keys the joke goes like this:
What’s the difference between a dog and golf cart? The a-hole is on the outside of the dog. Golf cart people tend to be the worst. People like to think they can drive them anywhere and park them anywhere including sidewalks.
