My 12 year old has recently tested 3 standard deviations above the mean in both verbal and nonverbal measures. This may sound like a good thing but she is very shy and can’t relate to kids her age.

She is struggling in school because she feels that the material is pointless. She is depressed and isolated. She found kids she could relate to at a summer camp this year but they were all way too focused on “progressive lifestyles” which was poisoning her mind.

I know we could send her to a public school gifted program but then she would be inundated with Marxist conditioning. Have any of you had experience with this sort of thing? I need help.

I’d think you’d have a vastmind for this.

Nope. I'm happy if my kid can pull off a C in math.

WTF are you talking about?

Scruffy went through the gifted program in high school.

would you be poisoning her mind by making her do stuff that she really isn't interested in?

Location?

There are a couple of very good high schools around New Orleans that accomodates intellects like your daughter has?

Newman, Ben Franklin come to mind.

Assuming this is a serious post. Don't spend so much time on the poliboard. Get her in a gifted program. If you run into something you don't agree with, explain why. You're the parent. She's eventually going to be exposed to other ideas and have to figure it out for herself anyway.

Yes. You do need help.

ETA: For the record, I'd give this a 6/10 on the troll scale.

When you have group of kids on group text sitting around convincing each other that they are gay, bi, trans, depressed or nonbinary, that’s not healthy. Twelve year olds.

It is pretty obvious that you are the reason your daughter has issues. Obviously, she is a bright and talented girl. A shame she wasn't adopted.

I'm not saying any of this to be deliberately provocative. I sincerely mean every word of it.
