Most hip replacements do not require a blood transfusion.

He died of complications from AIDS which he got in the 90's when he became HIV positive. After he was diagnosed he changed his life & became deeply religious(Remember that?). The word is he thought he was miraculously healed sometime last year & stopped taking his meds. This is what happens when someone with HIV stops taking their meds.

I have a friend who is a very observant Jehovah's Witness. His father, also JW, was diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm. They spent several months trying homeopathic remedies and praying for a cure, in order to avoid surgery. Things got worse, as aneurysms often do, so they started seeking out "bloodless" surgeons. They went out of state to find a bloodless surgeon who was willing to attempt the repair. It didn't work, so they had to ship his body back home.

It was a sad situation. This guy had to know that a bloodless aortic surgery was a bad idea. I'm sure his father did too, but they stuck to their religious beliefs instead.

He makes a good point, albeit fairly obvious. I wouldn't down vote him into oblivion, though. It hasn't been officially reported but I could see it that's probably what he did. People aren't supposed to overconsume oxycodone IN LIEU of a hip replacement. He just liked taking them and probably had mad plentiful access to them and just took too many one day.
