The reason I even brought up the GWB story was to show that the Greatest Generation/Silent Generation complained before the Boomers. Guess what in another 10 -15 years from now it will be Gen X bitching about our SS benefits being cut. The only difference is we have been told our entire lives not to count on it so shame on those that do.

In the late 60s, my father took a job with an oil company shortly after graduating from LSU. According to him, if someone got a 10-percent raise there, it was a sign that the company wanted to get rid of him!
Today, getting 5% is outstanding.
We’ve replaced pensions with 401k plans.
These things didn’t happen without some type of concerted effort.

I would bet that most boomers did not vote the way they did because they were in favor of all of those things you seem to blame only boomers for. I know I never did.

The problem is many folks here are more interested in flinging poo, than in fact finding, and acknowledgement. It is extremely counterproductive in a situation where both parties have something to learn from the other.
Folks denying inherent Millennial difficulties -- cost of higher ed, the great recession, CV19, the rise of AI, etc. -- are doing no one a favor. Meanwhile, millennials do themselves a disservice by downplaying previous generational challenges. I know one prominent millennial on this board who has claimed millennials have it harder than any generation in US history. The lunacy in that claim is breathtaking.
Ultimately, these discussions can be productive though if they are designed to find a better way forward, rather than to blamecast. For example, Millennials grew up with social media (SM). What role did/does that play in intergenerational differences? If you grow up with something, you often simply accept it and go with the flow. As someone with experience in the pre-SM world, it is fairly obvious the impact it had on Millennial stereotypes --- i.e., choosing experiences over age-appropriate frugality, investment, home purchase, etc.
At the same time Millennials are more likely to be "working for the man" than was probably the case with BB's or X gens. For the latter, work-ethic was richly rewarded. For Gens Y and Z, not so much. Older folks criticize the work ethic differential without recognizing the nuanced motivation. It's important for the older parties to recognize that.
