I smoked two Boston butts a couple weekends ago, and our little pup loved me like no other when I tossed those two shoulder bones to her in the yard.

She’s most likely fine but the general rule, with dogs eating stuff they shouldn’t, is 48 hours in case there’s a blockage or intestinal issue. Not eating, throwing up bile, lethargy or excessive panting are signs of trouble.
My dad couldn’t help himself giving our little poodle rib bones and other table scraps. Like clockwork she’d barf under my bed the next day for me to clean up. They aren’t made to handle all the sodium, sugar etc. in human food.

I've always heard "no fowl bones." But rib bones are generally okay I think.

It's cooked bones that are the issue, raw they can pound them down all day.

Bones and dogs
Beef = OK
Pork = OK
(unless cooked down as they can apparently be like chicken bones)
Chicken = OK
I remove the sharp tiny bone on the drumstick. Then take a metal meat mallet* to the bones to break them up. Hounds love them as they seem to prefer chicken to beef or pork.

The Mexicans who do the landscaping/mowing in my community eat lunch under the trees and throw their chicken bones in the grass. When I’m walking my beagle, he finds one damned near every time. Arnie’s nose is undefeated. Hasn’t hurt him yet.

I have been enjoying reading the responses lol.
Most dogs are going to be fine eating a bone, especially pork or beef. These guys have evolved as scavengers and hunters. Dont think they had a few bones along the way?
There have been cases though where it is an issue. Bones getting stuck in the esophagus or lower GI. Punctures and impactions. Etc. These are relative rarities, and go up with incidence if bones are over consumed. Most vets will tell you not to, because we are health professionals. The best advice is to not do anything with any risk and no real reward.
Even I am guilty of feeding my dogs bones on occasion. I had a dog once, and she was a living trash compactor. She looked like a giant jack russel. Found as an abandoned pup in backwater walmart parking lot. I could feed her chicken wing bones laced with hot sauce all night. That dog never got diarrhea once in her life. My doberman that i have now? If i let him smell a pork bone i bet he would get explosive diarrhea.
So my official advice as a vet, dont feed em bones. If you do, theya re probably gonna be fine though, and if not, usually worse will be dealing with the hershey squirts. If you do, you may be one of the unlucky souls that have to deal with a more serious issue though. Your risk to take.
