I would rather watch college football than do just about anything. Sex is a possible exception but the two are not mutually exclusive. The half time show is a good opportunity for other activities.

sounds like it's time for some tough love .... stop financing his habit as he needs to experience the real world
from one of my favorite movies - Bronx Tale (Eddie Mush = Peej)

sounds like me early on, I am 29
Went to Wallace State Hanceville my first two years. In 2 years I only earned 1 year worth of credits. I would skip class to go to the campus gym and workout.
long story short, my parents said move home and continue college or we are cutting you off and you will find an adult job. I smartened up, moved back home and got my crap together. Ended up graduating as an honors student at 25.
May have to give some tough love to your kid, it worked with me

Have you tried hitting him?

Why doesn't he just go to class in the morning during the week when football isn't on to watch? You know, like everybody else that's in school or works 9-5 and still watches football.

Cut him off and ignore him.

And it did the exact opposite for me.
It's worked out well for me.

I have no idea what dude meant by saying the bots thing...so yes, it indeed is real

At his age, if college football is hurting his grades, it almost has to mean he’s betting on it.
Which obviously is a whole different issue. Hopefully he’s just a football junkie without the gambling habit.

Ask him why dudes tackling each other in tights is more important than his future.
Also explain how he will one day have to work for a living while those guys play a game and get paid due to his interest in it.
I enjoy my kids playing sports but we don’t worship professional athletes in our household.

It’s really difficult to get booted from LSU. Trust me.

Get that boy a real job and have him pay his own way

With the current CS job market, it’s probably not a bad idea to extend school by a few years, unless his name is Prajeet.

first, you take out a second mortgage and pay off all the debt. Then, you take the amount of debt paid off and put it all on one game. Problem solved

Some people just have to learn the hard way in life. Stop supporting him and let him figure it out.

He needs to figure his own way out.
I went through the same sh*t. Lost my scholarships and dropped out of LSU. Had no interest in it. Went to work. Ended up finishing college a few years later. Life would have been easier for me if I'd buckled down but I'm the type who has to learn hard lessons.
I had a 1.5 GPA when I left LSU. I had a 4.0 on my second attempt at college. Cumulative GPA was a 2.8 or so because of how bad I'd screwed up the first go round lol. Once I knew what I wanted school was easy.
I hate to think how much money my screwing up cost me.
