do you do auctions?
No, I can’t stand them. There’s no adventure, no hunt. It’s shooting fish in a barrel.

Are transformers or He-man worth anything?
Generally yes. Complete and in good shape they can be worth a lot. Often lost weapons are worth more than gold...literally. there are also variants that cN carry additional premium.
You have to know what you are doing. If you have a collection to sell I will buy it.

Ignore the nay sayers trolls. That’s a very interesting hobby and I’d do likewise if I had more time or knowledge of things like that.
I love yard sales but I usually look for hunting or fishing items or tools. My best find so far is an old school plastic clam shell tackle box with about 30 older crankbaits and a bunch of leaders and other assorted tackle. $35 best I recall. I doubt any of its collectible but don’t care. Bought a nice Mitchell spinning reel on a newer Shakespeare rod for $5 at my last one. Also bought a rolling cart with 12-15 BIG wrenches and a bunch of big sockets. $15
Needed none of it but love to buy stuff like that. Ought to take a little time and could probably make a little side hustle with it but too lazy.

Friend,
You're wrong about that. I have purchased lots of manuscripts and letters at auction. I once discovered a personal letter from Abraham Lincoln to his wife. I had it appraised at $30,000 before donating it to the Library of Congress. My purchase price, with fees, was $800. Collectors probably would have paid $20,000 at the time. That was my most interesting find, but there have been quite a few others.
Yours,
TulaneLSU

Please do not justify your hobby in financial terms.
The money made is the only scale that I can use to judge my hobby, but I don’t rely on the money as income.
For instance, a $1 purchase that I flip for $100 is better than a $100 purchase that I flip for $500.
So this Ghostbusters that I paid $5 for and sold for $100, is better than the Masonic sword I bought Friday for $100, and going to sell for $200-300.
The profit is better on the sword, but the hunt was better on the Ghostbusters.

I see those all the time but never pay attention to them. As a matter of fact, I saw one Friday (lantern). It was the strangest thing I’ve seen as far as a lantern. It looked almost like an old blow torch.

It depends on the auction. I have been to some where they were selling box lots. You can see a few things, but you really don't k ow what is I. The box until you own it.
I bought a box of toys for $35 once. What I could see was worth $100. When I started digging and found loads of vintage star wars accessories and figures from the 1985 line. My 35 box was worth $2500.

Have you come across any treasures pirated by Jean Lafitte?
Posted on 9/13/20 at 1:21 pm to BlackAdam
I guess the reason I don’t like auctions is because I don’t like sitting there for 2-3 hours waiting for the one item that I’m interested in to come up.
Granted, there’s only one auction house in the BR area, and it sucks.

I believe Coleman actually made the old canister type blowtorches at one time.

Looking for anything in particular? When I cleaned out my grandfather's shed after he passed he had tons of COleman lanterns from the 50-80s. I still have them all. One day I'll take the time to clean/restore and sell.

First generation (82-85) Joes with weapons and equipment are worth money, $25-$50 apiece, if in great condition.
I bought an entire collection about 12 years ago for $650. I sold them for $3500. It was about 20 figures and about 50 vehicles/bases (including USS Flagg).
If you want to sell them, I can do it for you.
