Warming up the oil now, how long to soak a 90% frozen bird so it’ll be thawed for tomorrow?
Jesus, please don’t do this. Go buy another bird. I’ve heard of these things exploding when frozen and dropped into hot oil. People have been badly injured and great property destruction has been experienced.
If you already knew that and were just playing along, screw you. People get hurt doing dumb shite they read on the internet. Need to put an asterisk or a NSFDA warning on posts like this. If you didn’t know this then I saved your life. You’re welcome.

Jackson MS parking scam
Posted by Beaux Man on 11/19/25 at 4:12 pm
Went to visit family in the hospital there in early October. Went downtown to eat at the Iron Horse Grille (great meal btw). Wasn’t wild about parking in the street and found a fenced parking area across from Union Station a block or so away. Had a sign with a WR code to scan and pay and input tag number when I did. $3.80 with card fee if memory serves. Paid it with CC. This month get a letter in the mail and another a week later from a Vanguard Parking Systems of Hollywood FL with an invoice for $90 or so. They’re saying we didn’t pay and will not accept bank statement as proof of payment. Wife tried to dispute it with their online and phone system. No luck so far. Anyone familiar with this and how to combat it? Cheaper to pay the $90 than to take off work, hire an atty etc etc etc but I suppose that’s what they count on.
Any suggestions besides avoid Jackson MS?

Still would. She has aged rather (very) well considering how long ago her 15 minutes was. She has no makeup on and that’s bad lighting for her. Still a beautiful woman.

Be VERY careful buying Leupold scopes online from individual or small businesses. There are a ton of Chinese made copies out there allegedly. I read that you can take the serial number of a scope and call Leupold to see if they are legit but I’d still be leery.
I got several Zeiss Conquest (made by Meopta back then) that are great scopes. There’s a world of difference in a $300 and a $600 scope. Like 10 minutes difference at the end or beginning of the day. Almost all my scopes are 50mm objectives and about 50/50 on 1” vs 30mm tubes.
I got a hell of a deal on a Kahles 1-6x42 at a pawn shop in Birmingham. They didn’t sell guns so maybe didn’t know what they had.

re: First colonoscopy question.....
Posted by Beaux Man on 10/10/25 at 1:41 pm to Cell of Awareness
Older half brother died of colon cancer about 7 years ago. He was 62 and I was 48. He’d never had a colonoscopy or gotten checked for anything. When they figured out what he had there was a complete blockage in his colon. By the time they got that situated the cancer had spread to his pancreas and liver. He didn’t make it long and I’m sure he was in pain.
I came home and told my doc I wanted a colonoscopy. He said I was a couple years early. Told him what happened and got it scheduled. Went in, got prepped and anesthetized and the procedure done while I was out. Prep sucked but actual procedure was super easy. I couldn’t swear that they did anything. Had another since at 5 years from first.
We’re all gonna die from something but I’ll be @&$!?ed if I will from something I could have gotten checked for and treated. F that. My brother left a wife and three children. One in HS and the other two in college. He’ll never see his grandchildren. Why? Cause a colonoscopy is GAY? Really. You’re a stupid MF’er if you believe that and deserve whatever happens to you if you act on that idea.

Yes I know none of those are in the BR area but some members here hunt near those areas and travel near many of those stores as well on their way to the beach etc.
Pawn shops are owned by individuals and as such, vary widely in their processes. As a general rule I find maybe one in ten will have stuff I’m interested in and maybe one in five of those will have reasonable prices.
One such is A&M Pawn in Monroeville, AL about half way between Mobile and Montgomery. I bought a nice Beretta .20 gauge semi auto (A301 or L301 I can’t remember) that I sold to a buddy for his grandson. Paid $350 (yes, how ironic) for that one. Just this week I also bought a CZ 10 semi auto pistol in 9mm. Tan frame and black metal slide. Used but looked like new. Paid the same price for it. He had a couple other well priced pistols in there. I bought a new Ruger Charger there Christmas before last for my son. Very nice people in the store as well. I’ve probably bought 2-3 other guns there over the years. He has a good selection.
Eddie’s Pawn shop just below the I-10 exit on Hwy 98 in Daphne/Spanish Fort area is a good one as well. Bought a Sako Finnbear .30-06 there as well as a very nice older Swarovski Habicht 2.5-10x50 or 56 scope. They have a very nice selection as well and like A&M will let you walk back to the gun rack and look at what you want rather than having to look from 4’ away and having to ask for each one individually.
Jimmy’s Pawn and Gun in Fort Walton Beach had a big selection last time I was there. South’s Outpost in Malbis on I-10, Quint’s Sporting Goods in Saraland, Gulf Coast Gun and Outdoors in Milton FL on Hwy 90 (?) and Mark’s Outdoors in Hoover all had used guns as well as new and would negotiate some on prices.

re: Pocket knives???

If you’d like a non folding deer skinning or filet knife look at ALDeer. Com and search “custom knives for sale”. Guy’s handle on there is Skullworks (does or did taxidermy work also). He makes custom knives with several different blade styles (mine is a Damascus) with some extremely cool looking handles. Everything from antler to exotic woods to many with polymer surrounding pine cones. They range from $135-225. There’s a very nice one for sale on there now in the classifieds. You can peruse all the different forums without starting an account. In case you wanted something different than all the name brand folders posted previously. He does a great job and will custom make one to your specs.
Beaver Creek AL in Marengo county.

This all reminds me of a joke my stepfather told me. Said there was a college debate competition and the subject was the canals on Mars ie: what they were, who made them, why etc etc etc.
Halfway in one of the teams threw out this question…
“Where did they get the financing to build them?”
The current funny reply would be USAID

re: Advice for Buying a Four Wheeler and Trailer
Posted by Beaux Man on 8/7/25 at 7:07 am to CerRegKnockoutArtist
A small trailer is fine for light loads and short distances. There are several caveats however. A 4’ or 5’ wide trailer will be wide enough (barely) for your ATV but what if you want to haul some stands, coolers, lumber etc with it?
My greatest problem with a small trailer is you can’t see it or most importantly can’t see the wheels in your mirrors. Get a 6’x 10’ trailer minimum. The other issue with small tires in small trailers is speed. That 12” tire at 80mph is spinning WAY faster than a 15” will be. Wearing out bearings quicker etc.
Definitely try to find one with a jack that will let you open your tailgate with the trailer hooked up without hitting.

re: If you were leaving the beach tomorrow what would be a good time to head home?
Posted by Beaux Man on 7/8/25 at 6:36 pm to slinger1317
My children were asleep by the end of the driveway and my wife usually not long after. When she doesn’t have traffic to panic about (gasping at brake lights a mile ahead) she gets bored and sleeps a bunch too. I on the other hand have to put Pandora on my phone with earphones and blast hair metal rock music. Cruise then becomes an absolute necessity as I’ll get to driving way too fast when some songs come on.

I’ve started leaving (and leaving for) my destination at a ridiculous early time. We all shower and pack up the night before, then leave between 2-4 am depending on drive time to destination or home.
Started this on Disney trips from Mobile area. Leave at 3 am, get to Live Oak or Lake City area around breakfast time and stop and eat and let everyone else wake up. Get back on road by 9 and be at resort nd checked in and unpacked by lunch. Eat and start the day.
This lets you still have ,ost of a day to do the things you come on vacation to do. It’s even better on the way home. You’re home, unpacked and ready for lunch and have the whole day to relax before going back to work the next day. It’s sucks for me because I’m up a long time and do 90% of the driving but it eliminates two full wasted days on a week long vacation just driving. Works for Gatlinburg as well.
Gatlinburg is what made me start this. Took three and a half hours to get from Gatlinburg to the interstate one time and I said NEVER again.

$4-600 imho and that being based on resale value mostly. That’s something you can buy and if you buy it right you can own it for next to nothing. It’s 10x better made than most anything with that name on it made in the last 10 years.great reliable gun IF you like a pump shotgun. I don’t and can’t shoot them well.
The other issue is the full choke barrel. Depending on what you’re shooting and at what distances it may be great or may not. If you like the gun and he will part with it for a price you like, buy it and buy a later model barrel with screw in chokes or have that barrel cut for them (depending on current barrel length and profile this may or may not work).

Bought my oldest a Ruger M77 compact over 25 years ago. .260 (predecessor to the 6.5 CM). Short stock but reasonably heavy so recoil is minimal. Super light rifles are easier to carry but kick harder in same caliber. This one is about the length of a .30-30. Gets in and out of a truck or shooting house easily. Carries easily and easy to climb with. He still has it and lots of his friends and other kids have killed their first deer with it. I spent several $$ getting a very good trigger job and having the action bedded and the barrel floated.
It has a 16” barrel so it’s not a bean field 3-400 yard rifle but for 99.9% of what a young person would do it’s perfect. It’s a fine caliber for deer, coyote, hogs etc.
Biggest thing I like is it wasn’t a gun to outgrow. We still use it every season. If I’m walking a long way to get in a box or up a ladder I’ll take it. Great gun

Title of the post seems to indicate a victory by the Dealer Mafia. The OP as I read it seems to say the opposite
I must be reading the OP wrong. I thought it said they would NOT prevent Elon’s suit from proceeding. Where am I missing here?

If all the thugs in Mobile are armed then tell me WHERE (similar size city in the Southeast) they are NOT armed?
I’ll take Mobile (live right above it in Satsuma) 10x out of 10 as opposed to Montgomery, Birmingham, Atlanta, Jackson, Baton Rouge, NOLA, Pensacola etc etc etc.
I lived most of my early life in Selma. I went to public school. “They” are not the enemy. The element within that demographic who live the gangster thug lifestyle (black, white, latino) are the problem.
Taking guns away from law abiding people does NOTHING to slow the flow of arms available to criminals.
It was a domestic situation that could have happened at a church, day care, school, public park, one of the men’s jobs, take your pic. A single fatal event downtown does not mean downtown is no longer safe. I’d bet good money it’s safer there than the downtown of any of the towns I listed above.

Dan Wesson. Got a .357 and a .44. They can interchange barrels between 2” and 8” but I didn’t get any extra barrels when I bought mine. They were sold sometimes as a kit years ago which came with 3-4 barrels and a tool to change them. They’re allegedly some of the most accurate revolvers ever made as you can adjust the distance between the cylinder and barrel with the tool. Both mine came with long barrels (6 and 8) and neither included the tool so I haven’t had a chance to try that. Supposed to have been made by a member of the Wesson family of Smith and Wesson.

There are several (well a few) well respected captains operating tuna trips out of there and or Orange Beach. The downside is it’s a SEVERAL hour trip to get from there to tuna fishing grounds. I live close to there and I plan to drive to Venice to get on a tuna boat. I’d rather spend my traveling time in a vehicle rather than a boat. Most DI or OB tuna trips are a multi day deal.

I thought pic 5 might have been the little battery powered 4wd trucks called Stompers from the early 80’s. Haven’t seen any of those in years. Notice you buy a fair amount of vintage toys. Do you ever run across them? Love to find some old Evil Kneivel stuff as well
