If it were me, and I'm assuming your 25-50% travel is primarily air, I'd pick near a hub city like Atlanta or Dallas. Might also consider Charlotte.
How much of your travel is international and where is the destination? If it's Europe, I'd stay on the East Coast. If not, that gives you more options.

It is all contained to North America right now. I visit some plants in Canada and Mexico. Have some new customers in the pipeline that will require travel to Europe and possibly Japan at some point, but I won't have to head out there on a regular basis.

I’m surprised family hasn’t been brought up more. There is great food, airports, entertainment all over the country.
Aside from your brother in Miami, what family do you have and where do they live? I would want to be around family. Could be a great time for you to deepen or even repair relationships.

I would move somewhere warm and with a mid size airport near by. I cant tell you how awesome Birmingham's airport is. I can get anywhere and not deal with humans.

Family is important to me. My parents live in the same town I live in right now. They will both be retiring soon and plan to be snowbirds. PA in the summer and Miami in the winter to be around the new grandkid. My mom grew up in Miami and most of my family on my moms side live there. I have a great relationship with them, but I already go down there a lot and will have the chance to go even more now since I can work from anywhere. It's kind of why mountainous regions are intriguing to me because I'd love to have a best of both worlds type scenario lol
