No. I work deeply in this industry. If anything, "AI" is going to redefine positions into higher paying specialized jobs.

I imagine all non critical roles (legal, compliance, accounting, etc) will be taken over by AI in the next 10 years with a couple ‘operators’ to monitor the bots. If I had a young kid, I would make sure they aquire trade skills.

If you’re worried about AI taking your job, then go all out learning AI and how it applies to your field. Even if AI overtakes 90% of your jobs (highly doubtful), it won’t be 100%. You need to be in that number that will oversee the AI to ensure it’s producing the output that’s expected.

Engineering firms use Indians too

The medical field must be going this way as well.. Maybe? My PMP is an Indian dude and the doctor before him.. I am pretty sure he was paid a lot more than the Indian dude, but he is cool. The last time I went to him he walked in and said "what's up bruh?" but with the Indian accent. When he first started he mentioned something about communicating and I told him all he has to do is learn how to speak the language around here and he he would be fine.. But yeah, someone I know, told me awhile back that the hospital they work at was hiring more Indian doctors.

This kindof condescending arrogance from a guy whose job is being taken over by robots, programmed by cheap Indians, is amusing to see.

There’s a small percentage of Indians who are extremely smart but they’re not an overall high IQ group like Chinese and Japanese are.

And those Indians will be snatched up by the top places to work in tech like Google and Apple

They aren't the ones scamming their way through fake resumes and H1B consultancy firms lying in their interviews to take some job at a mid sized company

I think the AI stuff is overblown. I think the day will come, but I think people are way too eager to say it’s gonna be soon. For the field that I work in somebody in 2016 said it would be completely gone within five years. That hasn’t happened at all.

The only aspect of the medical field that could, rather easily, be replaced (assuming tools/devices exist for gathering the right biological readings and measurements) is the diagnostic and treatment side.

You’ll always need hands on nurses and doctors (if anything, for the liability side and sign off).

In fact, technology existed in Europe 16 years ago that could outperform cardiologists in diagnosising heart issues with patients so I know it’s there now. But you’ll still need bodies and sign off. Their jobs might become miserable though.

Kansas certainly provides cheap land and housing which could allow for an early retirement.

My house is paid for. No plans on moving. Still driving the ol’ Tundra. Check Tomball Dodge weekly for a used 3/4 ton diesel. Just can’t pull the trigger.

So they never came crawling back? Or they did and you can’t afford it?

Oh they did. Just didn’t make sense for me. Wanting to get to 250k miles which will be sometime next fall or early 2027. They’re a good shop tho. Will buy from them.

I do have a quarterly control set up to stop by, walk the lot, and talk to the salesman. Have formed good relationships there when I’m ready.

Lucky for me I’m a pilot. So I feel pretty safe in saying that no robot or fancy AI could ever do what I do.

Our parent company recently released an AI bot for us to use for research.

I asked it three questions, all of which were somewhat complex.

It gave an incorrect answer all three times.

It always happens much more slowly than people predict. I can remember 15-20 years ago the cloud was going to replace all on prem IT Infrastructure, and there would be far fewer jobs in the field. Cloud growth eventually became mostly a reality (much slower than predicted at the time), but the dire job reduction predictions never really did.

Some jobs will go away, new ones will be created, and it all take longer than anyone is predicting.
