Besides the Saints and LSU winning, the news in Baton Rouge is down right depressing. What the hell is going on in Baton Rouge...I don’t ever recall it being that bad when I lived there (and I taught at Glenn Oaks Middle School)...seems like you can’t even go to a Southern Homecoming Parade without being shot.

Sad

It’s a city on a very obvious decline

Sad to see because there was an opportunity in the 90s to make BR the Silicon Valley of the south

Went a different route

Was in Baton Rouge up till 98 after grad school at LSU. Don’t get me wrong, Baton Rouge was a little rough...but damn. Hell, I even lived behind Catholic High by the shopping center...don’t know if that area is safe anymore.

It is. A lot of good restaurants around there now. Catholic High bought the shopping center.

Really? Only thing in that shopping center was a Picadilly and an antique store. I believe CVS went in there before we moved to Lexington. Lived in the condos right behind the Catholic track.

It's not really so much the safety either though. It's just living in a stagnant city that will get worse much more than it will get better.

Honestly, to some degree I think it has to do with actually getting the information and getting it as soon as it happens.

If you don't hear about it, then obviously it's just as good as it not happening, but now.. With the alerts, twitter, etc, we are constantly being fed and it makes it seem a lot worse than it is (I am not saying it's not bad.. Don't get me wrong.. I am just saying that constantly seeing every shooting, etc it just makes it seem like it's more).
