If you don't hear about it, then obviously it's just as good as it not happening, but now.. With the alerts, twitter, etc, we are constantly being fed and it makes it seem a lot worse than it is (I am not saying it's not bad.. Don't get me wrong.. I am just saying that constantly seeing every shooting, etc it just makes it seem like it's more).
This is true. Look at Chicago.

People are acting like Chicago is worse than it's ever been and the national guard needs to be brought in because it's just so horrific.

But the truth is that the murder numbers haven't been as low as they are since the 1960's:

Chicago used to be way worse.

Sad to see because there was an opportunity in the 90s to make BR the Silicon Valley of the south

Uh ... no.

Yes, there was the semiconductor research facility but that's like comparing a seed to a gigantic operating farm.

It's the deep South. Most of the other cities here have the same problem - Birmingham, Little Rock, Jackson, Montgomery, Nola, Shreveport etc.

Love when some dumbass spouts this shite. There was never a time or opportunity for BR to be this. It’s never had the resources nor initiatives to be such.
It was busy trying to be the next Austin in the 90s. That didn’t happen either.

The news reporting is pretty awful as well. As a teacher, you must be aghast at the grammar.

I've largely avoided NBR for 25 years. It's been a shithole for a long time now.

There was opportunity to create other markets in BR, but the Silicon Valley of the south? That's strong.

Considering I have not taught for over 20 years...and I was not an English/grammar teacher....so, that does not make me an intellectual snob like you. Frick off.
