People are acting like Chicago is worse than it's ever been and the national guard needs to be brought in because it's just so horrific.
But the truth is that the murder numbers haven't been as low as they are since the 1960's:
Chicago used to be way worse.

It's the deep South. Most of the other cities here have the same problem - Birmingham, Little Rock, Jackson, Montgomery, Nola, Shreveport etc.
