well, if you try and dissuade him and fail, they will probably make him drop you completely b/c you'll be labeled a Suppressive Person. LINK

Tell him to watch "Going Clear" and tell him Ron L. Hubbard was a pedophile who used his scifi stories to make this story, and it somehow pervaded the minds of the dumbfricks of the 60s, and without being taxed by the IRS they stashed away money.

Once upon a time, 75 million years ago, there was an alien
galactic ruler named Xenu. Xenu was in charge of all the
planets in this part of the galaxy, including Earth, which in
those days was called Teegeeack.
Xenu had a problem. All 76 planets of the Galactic Confederation
he controlled were overpopulated. Each planet
had on average 178 billion people. He wanted to get rid of
this overpopulation, and he had a plan.
With the help of renegades, Xenu defeated his opponents,
the good people and their Loyal Officers. Then with the
help of psychiatrists and the media he persuaded billions of
people to come in for income tax audits. They were instead
injected in the lungs with alcohol and glycol to paralyze
them. Then they were put into spaceships that looked
exactly like DC-8 airplanes, except they had rocket engines
instead of propellers.
These space planes then flew to planet Earth where the
hundreds of billions of paralyzed people were stacked
around the bases of volcanoes. H-bombs were lowered into
the volcanoes, and Xenu detonated all the H-bombs at
once, killing everyone

I'll get downvoted I'm sure. Imagine being raised with this being your belief. Everyone that influenced you growing up is apart of this. You've been raised to believe Scientology is your religion.

So you're going to be a condescending dick just because your friend wants to make himself a better person?

No, just really don't understand how you can believe in this story.

You don't have to believe the same thing, just support him in trying to better himself. They do great work over there and if you're not interested in helping your friend then the least you can do is get out of the way while he tries to become a better person.

What if you were born into this story? Your parents raised you in the church of Scientology? That's all you know because your parents raised you that way. I'm really not trying to be an a-hole. Take a step back. Look at other cultures. Research how other people are brought up and raised. Research religion. It's pretty fascinating. It will definitely open your mind

I liked how you can excempt yourself from Lenten sacrifices with sufficient donation to the church way back in the day.

It is funny how scientologists gets made fun of for their beliefs, yet the christians and muslims act like their religion is so easy to believe.

A rib was stolen from the white man, Adam and given to the white woman, Eve so she could live.

Those two then went on to bang and then their children obviously had to frick with each other to populate the Earth.

Also "God" talked to some dude and told him to kill his son. This dude took his son up on a mountain and tried to kill him thanks to the voices in his head. Luckily the voice in his head, "God" told him it was just a test and his son could live.

Next there was a great flood to wipe out all of the corrupt creatures not fit for Earth and the many sinners. So again, "God" told this one family to gather every animal on the planet and put it on a large arse boat. I'm sure Noah was the supreme biologist during that time, which is why he was choose to round up all the animals, male and female, which would be billions. Then the Earth was flooded for 40 days and 40 nights and then the family of Noah had to have sex with each other to repopulate the Earth again. Plus all those animals had to have their offspring incest with each other to rebuild the population. ***This might explain why people/animals are so retarded now a days **

I could go on with this fictional story, but I'm sure most of yall see the point of it. Now don't flame me for making fun of these religions and their beliefs like the OT has done with Scientology. Luckily for me, I don't believe in any of these fake arse stories.

Forget all the Xenu stuff. As crazy as it is, that's not nearly the most damaging part of Scientology. Show him this: Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief. It should sufficiently wake him up to the harsh realities of this cult

The danger in Scientology isn't in it's mythology. They are dangerous because of how they convince people to believe it. Scientology is not something you want any person you care about to be duped into.

OP should try and protect his friend while he still can. As another poster mentioned, once he gets further into this cult, they will require him to sever ties to anyone who is a "suppressive person". It's then really hard to pull someone out of this illusion once they are surrounded only by people who reinforce it

Agreed.
quote:

just support him in trying to better himself
Don't do that, not in this case. If your friend wanted to better himself by getting in shape and went about this by starting an all candy diet, I'd expect you to tell him he's going about a noble goal in entirely the wrong way. Same case here.
quote:

They do great work over there
No, they really don't. This group has revealed what they are and we now know the harm they cause to recruit believers. It's dangerous, and the OP's friend almost surely has better options available for self improvement.
quote:

Then the least you can do is get out of the way while he tries to become a better person.
Dont do that. Tell your friend you respect that he wants to improve upon his person but you're worried about the method he's chosen. Ask him to watch going clear and gain additional information on the group before joining it. If that doesn't work, let him know that you're around to help anytime he needs it. If he dives into Scientology, there's likely to be a day he comes to regret it, and it will be important that he have someone to reach out to when that happens. Because god knows those frickers won't make it easy to leave.

Good luck

I guess. I just don't enjoy throwing away money on bogus stories like this.

The rich and famous members don't pay for shite. They just get moved to the top levels of the pyramid scheme. That's why it is great if you are already rich and famous.
