Seems like there could be some options in the Bucktown area by the lake?

No, there aren't...

Pontchartrain Landing is probably your best bet. I have no clue if the buyers paved the roads (this was the only real complaint). Haven’t kept up with it since the sale.

The RV park, Pontchartrain RV Park, is first class. It’s next to Seabrook Marina.

This. Actually on the water (well, the Industrial Canal, but on the water nonetheless). It's actually rather physically isolated from and secured from the hood areas.

So umm…since it’s on the water, non-swimmers will stay clear?

Aren’t there retailers that allow rvs to park there? Find one in a good area.

WalMart usually allows overnight stays in their parking lot as long as they have the room. We take advantage of this sometimes when we're just passing through and need to resupply.

I would not recommend this option for you parents.

Who cares if people complain about an RV on the street? They aren’t enforcing any laws right now. What makes you think that they will act upon an RV in the street?

Three weeks ago, I logged a complaint that the main sewer line coming from my house is decoupled on the city line, spewing sewer everywhere. Do you think I have heard back from the city?

There are many rv parks near the Mississippi coast. They should stay there and rent a car for the days they want to visit New Orleans.

Buccaneer State Park is only like 30 minutes away and on "The Beach"

I have three full service hookups at my camp/AirBnB just north of Bush, La. That's probably further than you want to go though.

I'd say those plant baws aren't messing around. Should be good there.

No riff raff allowed in that place. The restaurant and bar are first rate and very safe. Pool, hot tub, and very secure. Levee Board police don’t frick around with the feral dregs of society like the NOPD is forced too.

The levee board just finished resurfacing & added street lights to the entire stretch of France Road. It’s very smooth now

New Orleans RV Resort & Marina
It seems like it would be a questionable area, but I've never heard of any crime issues there. I've kept a boat at South Shore for almost 30 years and have gone over to the Pontchartrain Landing Bar many times with no issues.
