If you are mid to upper level, you better get back to the office, to avoid getting stabbed in the back come layoff time

It seems most of you ripping the OP are missing his point. He's not bellyaching about not paying the internet costs, it's the fact that those that make the rules (upper management/Politicians) continue with the fringe benefits while giving a free ride to the lower class.
Kinda like healthcare, members of congress have cadillac plan and the poors get basically free, subsidized, insurance. Middle class get $1500 monthly premiums and $12k deductibles.

They can’t do that. If you need the internet to work for your employer he can’t make you pay for internet. Lol
Someone lied to you.
Most homes have internet anyway, but like someone else said, you can start a business and write it off.

I’m a cynical fück. I don’t think I’d want my company to pay for my home internet to give them a foot in the door towards accessing my internet history. They don’t need to know if I’m looking at competitors job openings or what kind of pr0n I’m into. Thanks, but no thanks.

Despite record 2021 profits, my employer has sent out notice that they will no longer pay for the internet of mid and upper-mid level employees.
Yeap, I have little interest of ever working for someone other than myself ever again. This nonsense is too much, not to mention if you’re a white male it’s probable you’re not getting a fair shake in terms of salary/reviews/promotions as well.

Degrading handicap stuff, you’d dig it.

I suspect the usual method is to allow for a certain monthly expense allowance.
Why would your company want to know your internet history beyond what you did on your work devices, which they can see whether they pay for your shite or not?

While I do think that is unfair. I work from home at times my wife (no pics)is WFH 9 out of a 10 day period.
The benefits of little to no fuel cost, less wear and tear on her vehicle and time to manage some household things are worth way more than having her or my company pay for internet. IMO

Anyway, when you sign on with a company as part of their hiring package to recruit you. It could include (what you think something trivial as a benefit) of approx $1K/year and they take that from you and leave it for the elites and the non-skilled…
I agree but I interpreted the OP’s post as something they started giving the perk when they had to go WFH during the plandemic so it was a payment given temporarily to offset the expense for those forced to WFH for reasons beyond their control.
And if that’s correct, if they’re now back to in-office or a choice of WFH then I can see this decision being made. It’s a choice to WFH so a decision made by an employee where the cost of doing so and paying for internet is offset by commuting expense and other miscellaneous costs.
Anyone hired on with it being a provided benefit obviously has a different case if it wasn’t specified as being a temporary situation.

So they reached their goal in valuation and said well we hit that number we are closing up shop. Because that is probably the only way they will eliminate class inequities and " systemic racism"
