Don't worry, things will probably get better for you soon. Keep your head up

So you reinforced the fact that New Orleans is a fun city to visit. Great. Would you live there?
There is no police protection. 9-1-1 refers you to 3-1-1 unless someone is severely injured. They are unlikely to send a police officer over if you are robbed or your property stolen. If, by some chance, they do, he/she will inform you that they aren't going to catch the guy because they don't have the time and resources.
You will have regular boil water notices due to pressure issues and potential bacterial threats. Every time a decent sized storm comes through- which happens frequently - you will likely have to worry about flooding because the pumps are always broken and the drainage systems broken or blocked. Your water bill will likely be very high solely because the city's municipal water pipes are busted all over the city.
This despite the massive and unprecedented federal infrastructure grants that were given to the city post-Katrina. This sort of federal investment will never happen again here or in any other city. The city government pissed it all away on who knows what.
Large corporations will not invest in the city because they'd be insanely stupid to do so. That means ever increasing reliance on tourism/hospitality. In other words- same economy as a 3rd World nation. The immediate resort areas in Mexico and Jamaica are nice and fun as well. A few blocks in though it's poverty city. Same as New Orleans.
So yes: Good job. Have your family enjoy the city for a day visit and stay in the tourist and well to do areas. And then get them out before dark. If you love them, that is.

LOL. Yep.
Probably comes to the city, walks up and down Bourbon St sipping hand grenades and big arse foamy beers. Follows it up with a delicious meal at Landry’s or Bubba Gumps.

The new Children's Museum is expected to be open by the middle of next year. I pass it often and the constructions seems to be moving well.
Here is the website to read about it. LINK

Crazy but I've been living here since pre katrina, warehouse dist, mid city and now Uptown and have never once been mugged or had my car broken into.
I don't even carry my gun with me in my car when I goto the grocery store.

Also FYI and new awesome children’s museum is being built in City Park
I'm sure it's nice.
State taxpayers had to foot the bill for most of it. Extremely annoying considering how crappy the infrastructure is in Louisiana. Or that the other Louisiana cities with Children's Museums paid for it through local tax dollars.

I’m pretty sure most the funding came from private donations.

I live one parish over. I work in the city. The only reason I don't live in the city, is because my wife wants to work close to her job, which is in the suburb we live in. I don't mind a commute... she hates one.

Can’t really take what people post on the internet as facts.
Most people who trash New Orleans, live outside the city or don’t visit very often.
Over 10 million people visit New Orleans a year. You may hear a bad story here and there about tourist being mugged or something bad happening while people were there, but for the most part the crime stays in the high crime areas, and the criminals are being criminals against each other.
I’ve lived in the city for 38 years, never been mugged, raped or murdered.
I’ve worked in the “hood” for 10 years now, still haven’t been car jacked, robbed or killed.
Can’t live your life in fear. Get out and enjoy what New Orleans has to offer.
It’s actually a beautiful city, with plenty of culture and history. There is plenty to do and so much to enjoy. Not to mention the hospitality and welcoming people.
Glad y’all had a good time. Hope y’all come back soon.

I’m not giving you my address.
But I can tell you I went to school uptown, and I’ve worked in hollygove for 4 years and on MLK for 3 and now off Valence and Magnolia for 3.
What’s your point?
