I lived in Katy.
You just have a habit of calling the suburbs by the city's name, huh?

Next time take your 7 year old on a stroll through pigeon town and report back.
This is exactly my point.
Every urban city in America has neighborhoods you don't go through. Places where the crime is super high.
I have no need to go to Pigeon Town. I would never go there.
But, the OT makes it seem as if the entire city is like Pigeon Town. It's not. That's the whole point.

I generally refer to the place I live by the metro area, so yes.

Have you not paid attention to the OT facts about New Orleans? Everyone gets killed. No way you can make it out alive
Remember when the OT told us that there would be riots and the city would burn when they Saints won the super bowl?
Remember when the NBA all-star came here the year after the gang bangers fcked up the event in Vegas? The OT predicted it would be a shite show here.
A few months back the city started a bike sharing program and put around 20 bike rack stations around the city. The baws swore all the bikes would be stolen and everyone using them would get mugged or murdered.

I gave you 3 neighborhoods. I spend 24 and 48 hours at work so I’m there more than my house. I know everyone’s names and I’m outside shooting the shite with neighbors constantly. Not to say there hasn’t been a shooting or two literally next door, but I was saying I’ve been crime free. Then again I don’t owe any of the kids money or drugs so I’m pretty neutral to them.
And, I grew up in the Irish Channel. I lived off Eagle and Willow, I’ve lived on Wales and Jahnke Rd off Haynes. I lived off Washington and Laurel.
Now I own a house in Kenner, too, which I may stay at, due to my girls job in BR.
Anything else you want to know?

OT facts I tell you.
Meanwhile I’m just over here walking my kid killing pitbull around gentilly all weekend, listening to great music coming from jazz fest, while I drink a beer and chit chat with friendly strangers, who parked in these deadly neighborhoods.
Damn New Orleans is terrible.

Who?
I was just being honest. No defensive here.

Where you at, Lester? Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t you in the city?

I was there as well, all day riding bicycles with the wife as we have done for over 30 years. Never felt unsafe or have been threatened in all these years.
Ate brunch at Antoine's, later pizza across the river at Tavolinos and beignet's at 7:30 before heading back to BR.
Went all over the place. It was a glorious day.
Never fell but struggled a bit going back to the car as I was pretty toasty by then.
It's one of our favorite outings.

I lived in the city for six years and was never robbed or shot, but I also took preventative measures that effected quality of life i.e. not walking around outside at night, one person stands watch while the other unloads the car, triple locking everything, chaining everything that wasn't nailed down, leaving nothing of value in the cars. Cars still got broken into all the time. At some point I quit locking mine so the dindo's wouldn't break the damn window again. All this for neighbors on top of us, constant sirens, no off street parking, shitty streets and taxes out the arse.
Point is, I'm super happy for you and your daughter. Congrats, you didn't die. But the place is by and large a shithole and your anecdotal account of the middle of a Sunday at the Riverwalk doesn't really change that.

Where in the city did you live?

Recently?
I ask because I went to school not too far from there in the 90s, and have a lot of friends who live near there for the last 20 years, and not a single one of them has ever had a car broken into, or felt unsafe.

Moved about 4 years ago. And that's really awesome for your friends.

The other two things you posted were silly, and I laughed at both accordingly at the time they were posted and pontificated about here.
I'm curious about this one, though, and how it holds up in the long run. Not the mugged or murdered part, but the bikes themselves.
