Thank you for the advice. I'll be sure to watch everything he is on and see how he is really doing.

It’s true. Hearing success stories before this happened never made me feel good anyways cause that didn’t guarantee my dad’s story.
ETA happy for op, wish his paw the best

My dad had the same + a valve replacement 3 years ago at age 86. He's currently doing quite well.
Also, the time from when you first posted this morning to the update corresponds to his surgery timeline.
Hope that helps a little.

Hopefully the good news keeps coming. My stepmom had triple bypass in November and it's fricking nerve wracking. They came out and told us when she went on bypass. I thought that was weird. "Hey, we're at the point of no return. Wish us luck!"

Recovering from open heart surgery is freaking painful. Thank the Lord for good pain meds and a heart pillow. I went through it twice in a seven day timespan back in 2016. Glad he pulled through and I wish him a speedy recovery.

Can you send me a link to a good heart pillow?

They should give him one at the hospital. That where I got mine. It helps if you hold it against your chest when you have to cough after surgery. One thing they may not have told you is in addition to having his breastbone cut in half, oftentimes ribs also crack during the surgery. In my first one none of mine did. But in the second one a week later they were in a hurry to get me opened back up and most of my ribs cracked. That pillow was my best friend for a while.

I told my dad about your thread and he said to give you this advice: after his quadruple bypass it felt like he couldn't take a deep breath, especially when lying down, and he said his heart constantly felt like it had pressure on it, like someone was squeezing it with their hand. He went back to the doctor and they listened to his chest and he there was fluid around his heart. It's an easy fix, he said they gave him some medicine to treat the fluid and something for the pain/discomfort too.

Guys. I say this as a man. The love and information in this thread gives me hope in humanity. Thank you. Thank you for prayers and honestly being there for me, as complete strangers, during a very scary experience in my life.

God bless Landmass. My dad had bypass right after 9/11 and he had a redo (ugh) almost 3 years ago.
It’s a scary time. I wish you all the best.
