Unless you went from contractor to company man, it sounds like they just want you to be the transition guy. They'll pay you well for 7-10 months then once the other PMs are nice and familiar with the company you'll get the axe and they'll hire someone at less than your original salary.

It should be obvious that you are grossly underpaid. You should be asking for at least 30% increase when changing companies. Don’t be modest. You likely are still 25% under paid.

It sounds like it all worked out. Plus, in the event that shite goes south, you seem to be able to find something else. Lastly, you went through the process, so that can't hurt either. Enjoy the new circumstances and don't let paranoia get in the eay of being happy (or even content).

1) No, you did the right thing. In a reorg, you look out for Team Cokebottle first.
2) They fired you. It didn't take long for you to get new offers. Obviously a good sign.
3) No alarm bells yet is good, BUT.....
I bet within a year you are looking again. Stats show those who take internal counters will leave anyway within 6-12 months. Your situation "may" differ since you were fired initially, but again, my concern would be stability where you are.
Another reason I would be concerned: If there were cuts, and you got this HUGE raise, guess who will be first in line for the next firing? Yep.
Also, not to mention the obvious: They refused to give you what you asked for until you almost left. They could have given it to you the entire time. I would no longer trust them.
I've been in your situation twice, BTW. Once I was fired/rehired. I left within a year. The second time, once the org announced "potential" cuts, I just left.
There. My .02.
TLDR: You will likely leave in a year anyway and your company likely isn't as stable as you think. You should have taken the other offer.

You can’t just sit around waiting for your last day. You were technically given notice, you looked for and found new work and your employer decided they wanted to keep you. And at the same time, you’ve established what your market value is outside of your company.

I have no patience at all for such haggling and mind games. I do my absolute best for whomever is paying me. I don't complain, even when things suck. When things get shitty enough, I make the decision to change jobs and once that happens, there is nothing more to discuss. As I see it, they should have been appreciative enough to keep me satisfied without any drama.

Way too much to read but basically congrats on the last raise you are gonna receive at that company and you will probably go looking for a job in 6 months anyway

On topic I took a counter offer one time and it was a great idea. Depends on if you were treated fairly and they just overlooked your value(busy bosses and such) or if they intentionally lowballed you till they couldn't anymore.
