Big fail on your part. This kid desperately needed a role model to slap him around, mock and humiliate him and teach him those most American of lessons: "Don't be a pussy. Don't be a weirdo." These are not polite suggestions.

Ask him what his kids with the hyphenated names are going to do.

Bolt them on to someone else’s and have 3?

Stupid arse post.

Are you in love with his fiancé?

Only reason I could see looking for validation in the internet’s version of the cantina in Star Wars.

Not worth it.

Unless he's marrying Ziva David.

Give him grief for being the type to hyphenate his last name to please a woman who doesn't even respect him as a man

I know of someone who is going to blend last names with their wife, and make a new name. Rosenblatt + McDonald = McRosen...

No McBlatt or Rosonald? So they’re not just going to destroy the legacy of one family line, but both of them? And screw things up for themselves and offspring in the future?

Your brother is a pussy...plain and simple.

On a side note, I know a guy who is marrying a girl whose first name is his last name. He probably posts on here. Her first and last names will be identical.

I don't know them personally, just the family member of my friend's girlfriend. They are stupid though

Why would a man, marrying a woman, take the woman's last name/merge with her name?

Are they feminists or something who feel like they're defeating the patriarchy?

ETA: Read through the thread, looks like I was right.

what kind of girl are we talking about?

Are we talking a Jessica Alba type?
Are we talking a Rebel Wilson type?
Or are we talking a Bruce Jenner type?

Because it sounds like you’re talking about a Bruce Jenner type girl.

And honestly, it doesn’t matter what type... a man taking a hyphenated last name for marriage is absurd.

You're focusing on the wrong part. Your brother is becoming a hyphenator.
