i have showed him several times as part of putting oil in a car, it just didn’t take.
But did you make him do it? Showing is one thing. Doing is another.

It’s a damn Audi, and it has a lot of weird German shite, but the damn hood latch is not one if those items.
Millennials today are clueless.
Tell me you're a garbage father without telling me you're a garbage father.
Guess you came out of the womb knowing how everything works on cars and how to gut any animal huh?

I can just picture someone like this looking for the blinker fluid fill.

All the Lithettes(no pics) can change a tire, seen me change the oil, drive a manual transmission, and back up a trailer. Lithette #3 use to put the jet skis in the water with a jeep with a Manuel transmission

I was showing him how to put radiator fluid in the damn thing, sent up pictures of the type to buy where to buy it etc, told him to buy a plastic funnel etc, and sent him several videos of how to do it etc. I had no clue he didn’t know how to open a hood. I had to send videos on that too. i have showed him several times as part of putting oil in a car, it just didn’t take.
I have tried numerous times to teach him about cars, etc. He and his friends have zero interest in it. So I just have to do everything
Like everyone else has said, it's all on you as a father. If it didn't take, it's because his teacher didn't make it enjoyable to learn. I notice how you can't accept blame and nothing is your fault. You sound like a *cough* millennial, as a small-minded boomer would say. Do and be better

my dad couldn't shoe and break in a horse like his father could, all he could do was hot rod big block engines...now his son, me, can't work on a car like he did, but I can hod rod a computer, setup a network and hack into a phone...my kids will probably be re-DNA'ing primitive lifeforms one day

26-year olds are Millennials. I'm 26 and in no way am I a Zoomer.

My Bugatti bonnet is hard to open
It’s an honest mistake.

There’s a Mexican dude behind the engine, puts in whatever gear he wants.

Your "son's" transition is hitting some hurdles is all

In fairness, German car hood pulls are stupid.
Modern BMWs have to be pulled twice.
Most modern Audi hood pulls are tucked away in the footwell, and if the only cars you've ever been around have hood pulls on the bottom of the dash, like 90% of cars ever, it would probably never cross your mind to look anywhere else.
With Mercedes, the hood pull lever thing itself is like a foot long, but you have to reach up under the dash practically back to the firewall to find it.
Early BMW-Minis have the hood pull on the passenger side.
Good times!

Make sure you also teach him how to close a hood. Check for tools/items left in the engine bay and watch for fingers of himself and others around the hood.

Maybe he did not want to get his dress dirty, or perhaps this was his way of protesting the patriarchy.
I'll bet he ran inside in tears, grabbed an iced latte out of the fridge and immediately started a live TikTok rant after locking himself in his room.

My dad passed away when I was 13 but taught me quite a bit before he died. The rest I was able to figure out on my own. This kid actually had a chance but maybe not.

Did you teach him?
