You can look up how to on youtube for anything today. Not figuring basic things out is so dumb.

I've never installed floating shelves before buying a house but it's not fricking hard if you watch a video on it.

I don't believe you.

A 20 year old would have gone on YouTube before coming to you.

A lot of posters are faulting you. Well, because it’s true. How do you expect him to know something you’ve never taught him?

You sound like my dad, God rest his soul. He was a grade A + + carpenter, could build anything, but a terrible teacher. I was 12-13, & he would talk to me like I knew what he knew, & if I didn’t, he would go to cussing & his excuse was, “you should’ve been watching”. My response, watching what?

Anyway, teach the lad, show him, & make sure he understands. Remember he’s not as old & experienced as you. Then if he doesn’t know, that’s on him.

“Come here, lad. Today I’m going to teach you how to open a car hood.”

“Gee, thanks, Dad. That’s a complicated task that definitely requires one on one instruction to learn.”

GTFO, it’s opening a hood, not overhauling an engine. I never “taught” my two sons to open a car hood. My two sons can open a car hood.

Neither could mine. So I taught him how. Gas refill door too. Now, he can.

Nobody said he had to specifically show his son how to "open a car hood."

If he taught his son how to check the oil level, then he's taught his son how to open the hood.

When i bought my first bmw. I went to the store and locked the doors. Wanted to check that they were actually locked. Door opened right up. I stood there for at least 30 mins repeating the process. Until i finally googled and read you had to be a certain distance away from the car with your key fob (first one i ever had to use) for it to stay locked. I felt like a dumbass.

Also the hood latch on those cars are a bitch to get to

I’m low 20s and work with heavy equipment and am a makeshift mechanic. You’re right though, people my age don’t know shite about the stuff. We all grew up on computers
