That can happen with a monkey too. Hell why are you even taking your kid to the zoo???

Have you ever been to a zoo? Not some roadside zoo or Joe Exotic type place, but a real zoo. If not, then let me inform you that they keep the animals in enclosures. It’s incredibly unlikely that there’s going to be a monkey coming out of an enclosure to attack someone.

That's the problem with pibbles... you CAN'T control them. Just not worth the risk.

TIL most of the board is afraid of Pit Bulls.
They can be great dogs. Depends on the owner. They do chew up stuff and have strong jaws. But aren't evil like Chows or Chiuahuas.

Why didn't that man jump on the car?

People- tell your children if they encounter dogs out in the neighborhood that are sketchy and aggressive- to hop on top of the nearest car- owners won't care and eff them if they do- just get up high and holler their heads off.

Having been in a situation very similar to this I can tell you first hand you're not thinking about that.

These dogs are very instinctual and quickly form a pack mentality. I had two being aggressive in front of me and one was off a little ways back try to circle around behind me.

I was fortunate to have encountered them before and already know they could be aggressive so I was not unarmed and when I dealt with the most aggressive one that was closest to me the other two abandoned their plan and returned to where they came from. You are really rolling the dice every time you interact with these dogs and as you can see from this video, hitting, yelling and even cutting/stabbing them has no effect. When these dogs get it in their heads that they are going to do something they will do it unless stopped. 99% of the people who own these dogs are not smart enough to control them or outright want them to be aggressive because they think its cool.

I should clarify my statement. What I mean about a true pit bull is one from known fighting stock with high prey drive. Most people can’t even identify one.

My daughter’s friend has two. She can’t go over there unless they put the dog in a closed room or kennel.

Totally fine if they don’t, it’s their house and dog, but I told the parents- who I like- that’s the only way she can go over there and play.

Completely agree with how you’re looking out for your daughter, but for the life of me, why own a dog that you have to do that. fricking retarded.

My boy goes over there to swim in their really nice pool and hang out in the woods on their really nice property, and we get along well with the parents. But now they have a pit bull.

OT Lounge,

How do I handle this situation?
Sounds like you're going to have to pony up and put in a damn pool.

Nah, frick you up the arse with a pitt mix.

I now know three children that were mauled by these fricking animals. They weren’t the owners.

Two of them required years of plastic surgery and even now 10+ years later the scars exist.

frick this breed. frick dumbassess that think they “can save them.”

I love the retarded responsible owner argument.

Let’s assume that 25% of owners are horrible. There are infinitely more dogs out there of other breeds. Why not more lab maulings? Golden retriever? Great Dane? Dalmatian? St. Bernard?

It’s because this trash breed is defective. It was bred for violence. It was bred to destroy. It was bred to endure violence.

I read the first few pages but not all 10, so forgive me if I'm just saying what others have said. Can pits be great pets? Sure. The problem is that when pits snap, they're the superman of dogs. A chihuahua (rat with attitude) is just not capable of similar damage.

Our kids are grown and gone, and we agreed to watch the neighbor's relatively new pit mix adoptee, Penelope. Sweetest thing. She runs up to me and flops belly up to be rubbed. Now we have a big yard, and in the first 10 minutes of running around in it this big girl clamped on to a cedar fence board, cracked it, ripped it off, and squeezed in to the back door neighbor's yard. THANK GOD the young child who lived there wasn't outside. I lured her back with food, after which she ran to the side yard and did the same freaking thing.

I brought her back across the street, put her in her owner's yard, called him and said, "Sorry, I'll feed her and check on her but can't keep her anymore".

Sweet or not, any animal that can inflict that type of damage that quickly is a danger.

I'd be more worried if it was a Chow.

Those dogs are evil hellhounds.

The bite force of a Giant Schnauzer is reported to be 556 pounds per square inch (PSI).

You never hear of schnauzers killing people.
