This just makes it sound a bit contrived. I get it... It sucks to wonder if you are going to keep your job. I've gone through it like 8-10 times in my career. The first time was 10 months after I was hired. I was one of the 10% of new hires they kept. Everyone else got a very small severance and a "thanks for playing".

Our current spending is so wildly out of hand we need a reset. I'm sorry but it's a threat to our national survival at this point. It's going to hurt for a bit. Does that mean your favorite nice to have but not absolutely critical program might not get funded, yea maybe.

This is correct. Musk just posts on Twitter acting like he fired employees. Reality is he actually did not.

A few weeks ago Elon retweeted this Milton Friedman video where he said he would abolish the Department of the Interior and sell off the land. The plan is probably to shut down federal national park service, and a) sell off the land directly or b) transition it to state parks, who then preserve it, or sell the land because they can’t afford to maintain it and/or because the state gov wants money.

Fixing the horrible mess that is our Federal government; will require painting with a broad brush.
Hard workers will find other employment.
It sucks; but it’s needed.

While, unfortunately, some good people will lose needed jobs;
The lions share will be freeloading lifetime bureaucrats that nobody will miss.

So I feel for Ranger Brain, but I feel for America, her overtaxed citizens, and trillions of wasted tax dollars more. Much more.
